So "The Voice UK" went live last night. Unfortunately I was out at a quiz but watched it when I got back (I'm thankful for iPlayer because the BBC was running 20 minutes late for some reason so even though I TiVo'd it it didn't record it all). I thought the first of the lives was okay although it did drag a bit especially after Team Ricky went first. I'm generally satisfied with the results - I'm glad Stevie and Emmanuel went through (with the new voting system they could both end up finalists), I was a little disappointed that Autumn went out (because I had a bet on her and it would have been awesome if all of Team Ricky had gone through) but I was glad Vikesh went through because I like him and have a bet on him. I wasn't that sure about his song choice though and I don't think he needs all that stage production really - his voice should just speak for itself. I wonder what Ricky would have done with him if he was still on Team Ricky (and made it to the lives)? I don't think it would have been that!
As the results show went on I thought the new voting system wasn't gonna make any difference and that all coaches would end up with an act going home anyway so I was quite surprised that Tom lost two of his acts and Will ended up with all of his going through. I wonder if he's got the winner again this year? I do think that getting rid of four is a bit harsh though - and I'm not sure if three live shows is really enough (although I know in series one they had more and it didn't really work). I think the format might need work.
I don't think the group coaches performance works though. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because their styles are so different? Or maybe the song choices don't work? I thought last nights one was a bit of a mess unfortunately (although I did like Ricky's dancing).
On Friday night I caught up with a few remaining bits of TV - I watched "The 100" - 2x11 - which I thought was quite good. I liked the stuff between Bellamy and Maya in Mount Weather and I hope they can manage to find a way to get their people out without having to kill everyone. I liked that Bellamy said that - he's really grown into a great character on this show. His character progression has been really good. I think he's my favourite by quite a bit. In contrast I'm starting to find Clarke's mother (is it Abby?) quite annoying. I know she's the chancellor now but I don't think she knows what she's doing. She should be thinking about all of her people, not just Clarke. I was quite glad Clarke went against her.
I also watched "Elementary" - 3x13 - I thought this episode was quite interesting. The case of the week was okay and it was nice to see Sherlock and Watson working together again (although I did miss Kitty a bit). So that ending, huh? Is he dead? Did that woman Watson bumped into slip some poison into his drink? Or was Watson the target? He did drink her drink by accident? It was a bit of a surprise ending and I'm wondering where things go next week.
After those I watched my usual Friday night shows
TVD 6x17
I thought this episode was okay - I'm a little bit disappointed that it looks like Stefan really has switched it off. Although I couldn't help wondering during some of those scenes whether he was putting it on for Caroline's benefit, trying to get her to switch it on or something? Although I don't think he would actually kill people while trying to do that.
I wonder if Damon's idea of getting their mother to help will actually work out? She seems like nothing but trouble, to be honest, I can't see it ending well at all.
I thought the scenes between Bonnie and Damon were good again - I hope they can continue to be friends through everything that's happening. I liked that she thought of him when she was stuck in the early 90's and I was surprised to see the cure back in play. I wonder what he'll do with it now?
Finally I watched "12 Monkeys" - 1x04 - I think it was because I was tired and kept zoning out but this time jumps really confused me this week. I couldn't quite figure out where Cole had gone and where it fit in with everything else. Once it was all clear by the end of the episode I thought it was pretty cool. I just wish I'd been able to follow it properly. I think I'll have to remember not to watch this show when I'm tired again. I need to be fully focused for it, I think.
