I watched "The Voice UK" last night. I don't think there were any real surprises and the judges chose pretty much who I thought they would during the battles. I also wasn't that surprised by the steals. I knew Ricky wanted that Irish girl so saw that one coming.
I also thought Ricky was great. He looked lovely (I love his style, you know) and he just seems really nice. Aaarrggghh I love him!! Just saying (again). Seeing him every Saturday night is the highlight of my week. Not even joking.
After that I watched
H50 5x17
This episode just shows how much different it makes when Scott Caan is actually available. I really enjoyed this episode - it was really good having the Steve and Danny dynamic back as strong as it was and I thought the case was interesting enough. This episode wasn't about the case though, it was about Steve and Danny and their friendship and why they argue all the time! I thought the scene when Steve opened up to Danny was really nice - I especially liked that the why he stopped playing guitar story wasn't something massive, it wasn't a big traumatic event (comparatively speaking) but it was a big deal to Steve. And I liked the way he said that his upbringing was different to Danny's. He was taught that men didn't show their feelings like that but Danny was the opposite.
I felt sorry for Danny though when Steve said he could choose what meal they got but then shot down both of Danny's ideas and ordered what he wanted. If someone did that to me I'd be really annoyed so I could understand why it got to Danny. I liked that he talked to Steve about it though. Steve definitely has control issues but that's definitely something they can work on in their therapy sessions. Incidentally, I can't even remember why they started going to them - did the Governor tell them to?
I thought the stake out aspect of the episode was pretty good - the plot reasonings for that were okay but it was really just a way to get Steve and Danny together so they could talk about their feelings, so it worked. I liked the scene when Steve was yelling at Danny about his passive aggressiveness and when Danny said he'd get proper aggressive I thought we were gonna have a fight on our hands. If they hadn't been interrupted I wonder what would have happened?
Daniel Dae Kim did a good job of directing this - there were some good action scenes etc and I loved the little moment when Danny was talking about not liking cats (that cat was adorable, btw) and he pointed at himself with his gun before realising and slowly putting it back in it's holster - that a fun, perfectly timed moment. And it was good seeing Arden Cho on this show.
I thought the subplot of the old neighbour and Jerry was nice too. She was just lonely and getting someone to investigate the missing fern meant she had someone to talk to. Bless her. I thought it was nice when they invited her out for a meal with the team at the end.
Great scene at the end when Danny gave Steve that guitar (that was a really nice thing to do. Steve didn't even know how to react to such a nice gesture) and then when Steve let Danny drive (but he still wanted to chose the music). It was a really nice moment between them, I thought, and definitely a breakthrough. Great music choice too. Let's hope the boys really are back (and Scott's not gonna be missing any more episodes this season).
After that I watched the first episode of "12 Monkeys". Now I've seen the movie a few times but not for a very long time so I don't really remember it that well. Is this show gonna be following the same storyline? I thought this was a good first episode though - I liked Cole and Cassie together (and separately they seem like good characters) and I always like timey wimey stuff (as long as it doesn't get too complicated). I definitely think I'll be sticking with this show to see where things go from here.
Even though they're not really similar it reminded me a lot of "Nikita" but that might be because Aaron Stanford and Noah Bean are both in this and used to be in "Nikita".
