So, "The X Factor" last night. It was good to see them performing some Christmas songs (did they do that last year? I can't remember.) and then a second song that they hope will get them to the final. I have to say I thought Lauren was quite poor last night - the songs didn't suit her vocal abilities at all and in both songs the verses were just too low for her. I was surprised all the judges said that the songs were good choices because, in my opinion, they really weren't. In contrast I thought Fleur was very good - I don't really like her but I think she was a lot better than the others last night. I even voted for her via the app.
If the votes go the way I think they should then I think Lauren and Andrea should be in the bottom two (if they even do bottom twos in semi finals. I can't remember). I guess we'll see tonight.
In other news: I decorated my bedroom for Christmas yesterday (well, I put some lights up last weekend but I've added to it). I have a little Christmas tree with lights and baubles and lots of fairy lights (and I'm also using my winter duvet cover which is a red and green tartan which also works for Christmas because of the colours. I'm all about fairy lights when it comes to Christmas. Gotta have fairy lights.
I don't have that many people to buy for but I completed all of my Christmas gift shopping (I'm still on the lookout just incase I find some little things I can add to them) last night. I ordered Mums one, I just hope she likes it this year. She is the hardest person to buy for and is always the last one I have to get. I've enjoyed buying gifts this year, I hope everyone likes what I've got them.
Speaking of Christmas, I've been TiVo-ing lots of Christmas movies from the Sky movie channels so once my shows all go on their Christmas breaks I know what I'll be watching!
In TV news: On Friday night I watched
The Vampire Diaries 6x09
I thought this episode was quite good again - I liked that Damon and Elena tried to go and rescue Bonnie (and they very nearly succeeded too). Elena annoyed me when she said that Damon was only doing it to get in her good books - I literally said "not everything is about you, Elena!" so I was glad Damon told her that it wasn't about her, he was doing it for Bonnie. I really like the friendship Bonnie and Damon seem to have developed. It'll be interesting to see how things are between them when she comes back (I have faith that they will find a way to get her back).
I didn't really understand why everyone was annoyed at Damon and said that what he did freed Kai. It didn't though, did it? Kai had found is way out on his own and he would have even if Damon hadn't compelled Alaric to get that thing from Jo. Wouldn't he? I can understand Alaric being annoyed at Damon for compelling him but saying that Kai is free because of Damon is inaccurate.
I felt really sorry for Damon at the end and the scene of Bonnie running to the house and realising they weren't there was heartbreaking. Oh, and I also thought Elena made a mistake telling Jeremy that they were gonna get Bonnie back - why get his hopes up like that? Once they'd succeeded then they could have gone to him. Bad mistake from Elena.
I wonder what Kai's plan is now and what's Matt thinking?
I also watched
White Collar 6x04
I thought this episode was quite good - it was nice to see something a bit Mozzie-centric as we head towards the finale and I thought the con was pretty interesting. I thought it was interesting how blinded Mozzie was when it came to that woman - there's no way he'd usually be fooled by a con like that. He does that kind of thing himself. I was glad Neal and Peter were on hand to stop him from doing something stupid.
And the Pathers storyline is moving along nicely - and now they know they have a mole. Do they suspect Neal or Keller? With only two more episodes left (ever) it's gonna have to move along pretty quickly.
I still have a horrible feeling about how things might end. Not long to wait, I guess.
Then last night, after watching "The X Factor", I watched
Haven 5x13
I thought this episode was quite good but, if I'm honest, this season has kind of lost me. I haven't enjoyed Duke being apart from Audrey and Nathan at all and I'm not sure if the ongoing storyline has really worked that well - and it's been lacking in cases of the week. I don't think I've enjoyed this season (or half season) as much as the previous ones.
I'm glad Audrey's back as herself again and Mara has gone (apparently) but I didn't like that it seems to be at the expense of Duke. Is he gonna be okay after all of those troubles have left him and headed to Haven? Oh, and can they even get into Haven? Something weird happened when Dwight tried to leave, didn't it? Or was he trying to get into Haven? I can't really remember. And I don't know if I really got it anyway.
I hope the second half of this season can clear things up a little bit and maybe we can get back to the core three being a team again?
