I'm thinking about you, buddy.

After yesterdays long post about Expo I thought I'd save some of my TV thoughts for a separate post so here it is.

On Friday night I finally watched last weeks "Doctor Who" - 8x09 - I thought it was quite a good episode and I enjoyed Clara having to be by herself while the Doctor was stuck in the mini TARDIS. I like the dynamic between the Doctor and Clara and I kinda like that it's taken a little while to settle. I didn't get to watch last nights episode though so I'll try and catch up sometime today.

Vampire Diaries 6x04

I've been enjoying this season much more than the previous one so far - I know we're only 4 episodes in but it seems much more interesting these days. I'm especially loving the Damon and Bonnie stuff and look forward to their scenes every week. The guy they've met (I can't remember his name) is an interesting addition too and it's cool that they have to learn to trust him if they ever want to get out of wherever they are.

I thought the story Damon told was quite good but I kinda wanted it to end differently - I didn't want him to be the one who ended up killing that woman, I wanted there to be a twist or something. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get one. I did like that Bonnie kinda forgave him for his actions though - he did seem remorseful and did regret it. I thought that was a nice moment for them.

For a minute there I thought the pregnant woman was gonna end up being Bonnie's mother or something (wasn't Bonnie adopted? Or am I thinking of Elena? I'm confused now) so I didn't see it coming that she was the mother of that girl Elena almost killed a few episodes back. I wonder where that's gonna go?

The stuff between Matt and Colin Ferguson's character (I can't remember his name, sorry) is interesting too - it's nice to see Matt having an interesting storyline of his own. I wonder where that's all gonna lead? And Enzo is still alive? I didn't see that coming.

What really bothered me in this episode was Elena's (and everyone really) attitude to Stefan's actions - Stefan's an adult, if he wants to leave town and try to move on then surely that's his decision. Sometimes I think Stefan needs to be away from all this - it's better for him - but he never seems to be able to get away because no-one is willing to let him. It annoys me sometimes. There's nothing to really keep him in Mystic Falls so he can leave if he wants and I don't think people should try and make him feel guilty about doing what he thinks is best for him. Oh, and his new girlfriend's not dead? What? I didn't see that coming either.

Nice scenes between Alaric and Jeremy too - I hope Alaric can help Jeremy. I guess they can relate about certain things.

On Friday I also watched "The Blacklist" - 2x04 - I thought this episode was quite a good one. I can never think of much to say about these episodes though. I thought the scene between Lizzie and Red's ex wife was quite interesting though.

Then last night I watched H50 5x05

I liked this episode - it was good to see something a bit more Steve-centric after last weeks more Danny-centric episode and it's always good when we revisit Steve's father's storyline and all of the feelings Steve has about his dad.

The opening scene was quite moving with Steve visiting his father's grave on the anniversary of his death and filling him in on what Mary had been up to and how things were going. I thought that was really nice and quite well done. I felt sad for Steve - he has so many feelings but always tries to keep them to himself (must be a SEAL thing) so it's nice seeing the vulnerable side of him a little bit.

I thought the inclusion of Ellie was quite nice - I liked the storyline of her father's murder and how Steve's Dad had tried, but ultimately failed, to solve it and had had a new lead just before he died. I thought having this case as the case of the week was quite good. And a bit of a change of pace because there weren't that many action-y, chase scenes this week.

Ellie seemed like a good character too and I liked her scenes with Steve - he could obviously relate to her pain and wanted to help give her closure by solving his fathers last case. I thought their dynamic was done very well and didn't seem to be going down the romantic route. Even the last scene when they said goodbye could be read in a friendship way if you wanted it to be. When he said that he'd see her next year and his father's grave her reply that she hoped he'd see him before that didn't have to be read romantically (of course you can read it that way if you want to) but she might just see him as a replacement for John McGarrett - she lost him too. She might even see it brotherly or just in a friendship way. I guess we'll soon see if she makes any more appearances. She seemed like a nice character though and having her in the law profession could give them a reason to see her again.

Obviously, I missed Danny in this episode as he wasn't present at all (I understand the behind the scenes reasons why) but the scene when Steve left him that phone message was a very sweet friendship moment between them two (even though Danny wasn't there). It seemed to imply that Steve had left multiple messages and Danny hadn't replied. Danny's obviously in New Jersey with his family dealing with the aftermath of Matt's death, maybe he doesn't want to talk to Steve? I've heard some fans say that it was wrong that Steve didn't go with him - well, maybe Steve offered and Danny didn't want him to go? People deal with grief in different ways and Danny's way might be by shutting people out? Anyway, I thought the phone message scene was a nice touch and hopefully we'll see more Danny next week.

I liked the scene after the phone call too when Chin was talking to Steve about his Dad - I think Steve really understands why his Dad sent him and Mary away in the aftermath of their mothers (not) death. It was nice to see that his Dad kind of regretted it though, he thinks that he should have kept them close instead of pushing them away. I think John McGarrett died with many regrets which is why episodes like this are always good.

Oh, and Jerry's definitely got himself in trouble now!! He should have left it alone! I wonder what the book seller is involved in? Maybe it could be counterfeit money like Jerry thinks but I just keep thinking it's something bigger, and much more dangerous.

And next weeks is the Halloween episodes. I always like those. I'm enjoying this season so far.

After watching Five-0 I was too tired to watch the latest "Haven". I'll try today. Now the clocks have changed hopefully I won't feel so tired anyore.

In other news: For the past day and half I've been suffering yet again with a really bad toothache (it's so bad I don't even know what tooth it is - it could be one of about 4. In fact it could be all of them!). I've been taking nurofen and I think I've been using way too much of this sore mouth gel I've got. It just numbs the whole area (and treats it as well I think). It's good stuff and seems to work better than nurofen. Hopefully the pain won't last too much longer. Dental pain is the worst.
