Last night I watched "Bates Motel" - 2x07 - I thought this was a good episode again. I actually felt quite sorry for Norman when his mother didn't believe him that Cody's fathers death was an accident. Norman clearly has issues with these blackouts and doing things he doesn't remember when he's not himself but that actually wasn't the case here. I can understand Norma being apprehensive about believing him though - given his history. I wonder what's gonna happen now the sheriff's department has matched his DNA to Miss Watson's murder?
I think I officially ship Norma and the Sheriff now though - which is quite odd and surely gonna be an interest ship to be on because the Sheriff (or Alex as she calls him) now has to investigate Norman properly. They have great chemistry though and I think the sheriff is a pretty interesting character by himself.
Arrow 2x23
I really enjoyed this finale - think it might be the best one so far this finale season (although most of the others have been somewhat disappointing).
I really enjoyed the Oliver and Felicity scenes as usual (although I can see some shippers being kind of annoyed by them). As soon as that scene when Oliver told her he loved her happened I knew something wasn't quite right. I mean, part of me loved the scene but it just didn't sit right with the rest of me. I thought something was off but I didn't realise quite what until the reveal (and it did make sense that he didn't kiss her during his confession of love. He should have though, just to really sell it). It was a pretty clever idea actually - and I loved that Oliver came up with it after his pep talk with Felicity and her telling him he needed to try and make Slade think that he'd outsmarted Oliver. See, scenes like this is why Oliver and Felicity (and Diggle, of course) make such a great team. They help each other come up with plans like these! It was pretty cool how convincing they both were - I mean, Slade believed it straight away with no hesitation! I do think that maybe Oliver could have given Felicity a heads up about what he was doing (assuming she didn't know, of course) but maybe he needed her reaction to be real or something? Or maybe she did know? I dunno. I've watched the scene a few times and thought about it a lot but I'm still not sure if she was in on the plan.
The finale scene between them was awesome too with her admitting that she almost believed him when he said he loved her - and that he really sold it (and then when he said that they both did. Does that mean she knew then?). I really love their scenes together and I'm so glad they've actually explored their relationship in this second season and despite my reservations at the beginning of the season it hasn't led to any disappointments. I've enjoyed all of their scenes and think they've done a great job with taking their time with this. I think Oliver and Felicity is so special storyline wise that it deserves to be taken slow. I don't want anything rushed. I'm looking forward to more next season. In fact I just want more Felicity scenes. She's my favourite character and I really hope we get some real Felicity-centric stuff next season.
The conclusion of the Slade storyline (or is it?) was handled well - it was sorta rushed but at the same time they took their time and it really worked. I liked that Oliver didn't kill him in the end, Oliver has evolved so much as a character that he doesn't do that anymore. It would have been a shame if he had killed him given that this season has been about not killing when there's another way. And they tried not to kill any of his army too. I liked that.
The Laurel, Sara and Det Lance stuff was done well - I thought for sure that Laurel of Sara would die in this finale so was pleasantly surprised that they didn't and I thought the scene of Sara giving Laurel the jacket was pretty cool. But Det Lance is in trouble! I knew someone would be in peril by the end of this episode but I didn't think it would be him. The scene between him and Laurel at the end was really well done.
The Thea stuff was good too - I liked that Roy came back to his old self (just in time apparently) but it's a shame he couldn't work things out with Thea. I do think though that it's probably good for Thea to move away from Starling City and her old life for a little while. I wonder where her storyline will go for next season? And what impact is Malcolm Merlyn gonna have on her?
And now they've reached the new stage in Oliver's island adventure - what now?
All in all, this second season has been pretty awesome. It's really built on the promise seen in season one and then some! And despite my reservations during the earlier parts of season one this show has gradually become one of my favourites which is interesting because I'm not really a big fan of superhero movies. I guess, for me, they just work better on the small screen with more time to really build up characterisation.
Great second season and I can't wait for the third!
After that I watched "Believe" - 1x08 - I thought this episode was quite good. I still enjoy the relationship between Bo and Tate - their chemistry really sells this show. And Tate himself is really growing on me as a character.
I wonder what's gonna happen now Channing's been caught and they found someone else with powers? There are only four episodes left now (it's a short season) so I hope things end properly as it's already been cancelled.
