NCIS:LA 5x19
I don't normally like the Afghanistan set episodes very much but this one was an exception. I really liked the opening scene of Nell informing everyone that Kensi was in trouble and that they were going on a rescue mission immdiately. I liked Nell taking charge like that. And all the other scenes of her were good too. And Eric, of course.
As usual my favourite parts of this episode involved Deeks. It was so sad seeing him break down when he thought Kensi was dead but even though he was losing it he still couldn't torture that man - probably because he knows what it feels like to be on the other side of that and, of course, he's a good man. We all know that. Those scenes made me cry, of course. Poor Deeks. Anything that upsets or hurts him is always gonna make me cry. I also really liked how he (with the help of that man) were the ones who figured things out and came up with a way to save Kensi and Jack (more about that whole thing later). The final scene between him and Kensi was really good as well. I liked how he was apprehensive about approaching her because of what she'd been through. He didn't want to do anything she wouldn't have been comfortable with. It was a really bittersweet ending. I just hope Kensi is gonna be okay after her ordeal.
I wasn't at all impressed with Hetty in this episode - she knew that the White Ghost wasn't real and that the mission was to kill Jack and she knew that as soon as Kensi saw that it was him she wouldn't have been able to take the shot. And she knew the past they had and how damaging it had been for Kensi and how emotionally damaging it would be for Kensi to see him again and yet she sent her on that mission anyway! Personally I think that was way out of line. She manipulated Kensi because she knew how she'd react in the situation and that's just not on. If she wanted to save Jack - as she said was her intention - then why didn't she just tell Kensi on a need to know basis. That would have worked out way better in the long run. And when she told Nell what she'd done and Nell said that she shouldn't blame herself I was like "yes, she should! It's her fault!". Of course they'll probably all forgive Hetty because she's Hetty but they all hate Granger when him and Hetty are not that different.
I'm quite looking forward to the fall out from this even though it'll probably be heartbreaking. I do think though that the rescue of Kensi could have had a bit more build up and led to an epic two-parter finale. That would have been awesome.
After that I watched "Chicago Fire" - 2x14 - I thought this episode was good again. The whole Katie kidnapping storyline was resolved quicker than I thought it would be but I'm glad they found her even if she wasn't in the best shape. And now that douche bag has been released as part of a deal. I guess this is gonna lead to all the firefighters taking the law into their own hands again and we all know how well that works out. I hope they don't play the police as the enemy like they did in season 1 because we've got the spin off and everything. I don't want it to be FD against PD again.
Casey obviously isn't alright, but I'm glad that he told Dawson the truth about it because he's gonna need her support. He should probably tell the chief as well, shouldn't he? Speaking of the chief it's a shame that he's apparently ended his relationship before it even had chance to begin just because of his track record. Just because he hasn't had successful relationships in the past doesn't mean he can't have them in the future. I hope he sees that.
Then I watched "Beauty and the Beast" - 2x08 - I thought this episode was good. Given that the Cat and Vincent storyline is supposed to be the epic love story I was quite surprised that they seemed to be going against each other in this episode. And there seem to be more obstacles in their way than ever before. I wonder if they can ever get things back the way they were? I really enjoyed the scenes between Cat and Gabe again in this episode - I really like the idea of them together even though I know it'll never happen. I like that they've reached a mutual trust and are friends now. Even though Gabe likes her I don't think he'd push it. He seems to respect how much she loves Vincent and wants to help them. I really like him as a character actually - even though I didn't trust him in season 1. I'm looking forward to seeing how this show goes from here.
Finally I watched "Grimm" - 3x09 - I thought this was another good episode. I always enjoy this show. I thought the case of the week was pretty good and I liked that the wesen had a backstory of being a bad guy but still saved that woman in the end even though she was trying to kill him.
I thought the scene when Nick, Hank and Wu had to be decontaminated was fun but I was mourning the loss of Nick's really nice sweater that had to be incinerated.
The storyline with Juliette's friend is interesting - she's wesen but why doesn't she know that Nick is a Grimm? Wesen normally know, don't they? I'm looking forward to seeing where that storyline is going now.
