Its a big day for my livejournal today but I'm gonna make a separate post for that, I have a lot of shows to comment on first!
On Monday night I watched "Criminal Minds" - 9x08 - I thought this was a pretty good episode. A really interesting cast. I felt really sorry for those kids. Imagine abducting kids and programming them to carry out murders for you? That's just such an awful thing to do. Thankfully they caught him, as they always do. I actually think this episode could have made a really good two-parter. "Criminal Minds" two parters were always really good.
After that I watched "My Mad Fat Diary" - 2x02 - I thought this episode was another good one. I felt really sorry for Rae when she couldn't handle being at college and being in a relationship with Finn. I also felt sorry for Finn because he doesn't care about what anyone else thinks, he just wants to be with Rae but she's not ready for it. Hopefully she'll be ready at some point he'll still be there. Such a sad situation. I'm interested in what kind of friendship she's gonna have with that dude from the group. He seems quite interesting and I think they could really understand each other. I quite liked Finn's comment about not having a mobile phone because he's not a millionaire! Oh the 90's!
Finally for Monday night I watched "Moone Boy" - 2x02 - another fun episode but not as good as the others, I didn't think. It seemed like it was trying to be a bit too quirky. And the show is quirky enough anyway!
Then last night I had a pretty busy TV schedule.
Almost Human 1x12
I thought this was a pretty good episode again - the main storyline kinda reminded me of something "Criminal Minds" would do (without the future tech, of course) and I thought it worked pretty well. I actually kinda felt sorry for the murderer because he thought he would never be loved the way he looked. And in the end everything he did was for nothing because the woman he'd connected with couldn't see what he looked like and just liked him for who he was, not how he looked. I think John felt sorry for him at the end too.
I enjoyed the scenes between John and Dorian as usual - loved all the banter about how John looked and stuff. I especially loved the scene at the end when Dorian offered to go to the pub with him and watch him drink (because Dorian can't drink, of course). I thought that was really sweet - and despite how awkward it apparently was the last time it was a nice gesture on Dorian's part. I felt quite sorry for John when he was about to ask Stahl to go with him and then her date showed up. I don't think it was purely because he likes her specifically. I think he just wanted to go out on a date with someone, like people do. Poor John.
I thought the stuff about Stahl and her chrome status was quite interesting - at first I thought the victim was related to her in some other way so was a little disappointed that didn't happen.
With only one episode left I'm wondering how it's all gonna end and I'm kinda mourning what could have been. I don't think we're gonna get a season 2 but it would be nice if we did.
Castle 6x16
I really enjoyed this episode. I spent the first half of it wondering what the hell was going on but knowing that as this is Castle there had to be a logical explanation for it. I loved how Castle didn't even have a theory at the beginning of this episode. He usually has a theory for everything!
The case of the week was really cool - I think they've really upped their game case wise recently which has led to some really interesting episodes with cases that we really have to think about. I did suspect someone at the theatre group and also suspected some kind of mind control or drugging. I thought the way it was explained was pretty good and I liked that Castle realised what they had witnessed wasn't the real murder when the people who'd confessed mentioned how many bottles were in the fridge. It's always cool when someone notices a little, but important, detail.
I thought the Alexis stuff was quite good this week. It was quite nice seeing her wanting to move back with Castle but not wanting to prove her dad right. I thought her talk with Beckett was sweet too. Now she's happily reunited and Beckett knows that they're okay something has to go wrong at some point. Maybe something is gonna happen in the finale? Things just seem like they're too good at the moment - I don't like that because it usually means something bad is gonna happen.
The Following 2x06
I thought this episode was a good one. It was good to see Mike finally on board and believing that Joe Carroll is still alive and I loved it that Ryan finally called in for back up because he realised that him and Max couldn't do it themselves anymore. I also quite liked that Mike thinks the FBI is compromised (thought it was fun that they used that to explain away the mistakes the FBI made last season) because there's definitely something wrong there - I guess it's the FBI woman's girlfriend/wife but is the FBI woman passing her the information? How else would she be getting it? Unless there's bugs or something? I like the idea of it being Ryan, Max and Mike against the world though so I think it's quite good that they're not trusting the FBI anyway. I also liked it when Mike apologised to Ryan for not believing him about Joe.
So Mike? He's clearly unravelling, right? And hasn't passed his psych evaluation. There's no way he should really be out there. But I guess Ryan shouldn't either. And he's finding it way too easy to kill people these days. I even Joe Carroll seemed impressed when Lily told him that Ryan had killed Gisele.
I also quite like the idea of Joe and Lily being against each other - I wonder where that's gonna lead? Even Joe things Lily is psychotic! If Joe Carroll thinks you're crazy then you have a serious problem.
I'm interested in seeing where this season is gonna go - ratings are quite low so far (and are falling) so this might end up being the final season, if it is, I hope it ends well.
Teen Wolf 3x20
Another intense episode of this show. I swear the anxiety I get from this show just isn't normal.
I think it took about two minutes for me to cry - the scene in question was when Scott showed up outside Eichen House and was trying to convince Stiles not to go in there. It broke my heart when Stiles told Scott that if they couldn't find a way to fix him then Scott had to promise to never let him get out. That was just so sad. And I think I'd just recovered from that when the scene between Stiles and the sheriff inside happened and then I was crying all over again. The sheriff being all annoyed because they'd forgotten Stiles' pillow and then Stiles admitting that he hadn't had a good nights sleep in weeks anyway so it didn't matter. I think Stiles just gives me too many feelings and then by association every relationship he has does too. Poor Stiles. Honestly I just want to somehow make things better for him. The scene after he met Oliver of him just sitting on the bed all night was so sad too. I'm just so scared for him.
And now Stiles has gone, I guess. At least for now. He let him in so he could save Malia - such I Stiles thing to do really especially as he knows (or hopes) that Scott is gonna keep his promise and make sure he doesn't get out of that place. While I'm not really onboard with the whole Stiles and Malia thing I did think their scenes were pretty cute (especially after she kissed him and he asked her if it was her first kiss and if it was okay and previously when he walked in on her in the shower) and now she's out and is the only one who can give that message to Scott. And I guess give that picture to him, right? I want to know who is in that picture. It seems like she's gonna play quite a big part in the final handful of episodes this season.
It was actually really nice seeing old Stiles for a while because even in bad situations he was still being sarcastic. Basically just being Stiles. I'd kinda missed that.
I also thought it was quite interesting that Malia wants to go back to being a coyote. Can they do that? Maybe that has something to do with Deaton finding out that one way to destroy the Nogistune is to change the body it's in? I wonder if they actually will turn Stiles into a werewolf? I kinda hope they don't, to be honest. I know Stiles isn't the only human in the show but he is the only somewhat normal kid amongst all these werewolves, banshees and hunters. Stiles being the normal kid is, for me, the heart of the show. The relatable character. I really hope they don't change that. There's gotta be another way, right?
Once again I didn't really know what was going on with the other scenes in this episode - I liked Allison, Lydia, Scott, Aiden, Ethan and Kira teaming up to steal that silverfinger (well, the scroll that was in it). And some of those scenes were quite cool - and it was quite nice seeing everyone working together to try and help Stiles. I didn't really know what was going on with Chris Argent and that woman. Was she the one in earlier episodes who tortured Derek and Peter? I know most of these things are gonna make sense soon enough and, well, I'm used to some parts of this show not making any sense straight away.
There wasn't really much Derek in this episode either but I did like the scenes between him and Chris Argent. Their scenes are good and I thought the dialogue really worked.
I'm super scared about the last four episodes.
Finally for last night I watched "Elementary" - 2x11 - I thought this episode was quite good again. The case was kind of nothingy but the character stuff made up for it a bit. I liked the inclusion of one of Joan's previous patients (are they called patients when you're someone's sober companion?) and the discussions that followed about whether they would or should tell the police how they made the connection to the suspect. And I liked the stuff about Sherlock deciding if he wanted to be someone else's sponsor. It'll be interesting to see how that goes. The guy in need of a sponsor seemed quite interesting and willing to obey Sherlock's rules if it could help him.
I liked the fall out from last weeks Bell's storyline too - loved the scenes between him and Joan when she had made him some meals. I wonder if he's gonna take that new job he's been offered?
I've got a super busy TV schedule for tonight too. There's just way too many shows on right now, I can barely fit them all in. And if I end up having to go out somewhere of an evening it would screw everything up! Fangirl problems!
