I went to theatre today to see "Richard II" at Barbican Theatre. It has David Tennant in it and it seemed like a good idea at the time even though I'm not really into Shakespeare - especially the historical stuff. It was a good play but I don't think I can say I enjoyed it. If that makes sense at all. It was well done and the cast was really good but, at the end of the day, I guess it just wasn't my kind of thing (and it was long). I'm not ashamed to admit that I didn't really get it and I didn't really understand what was going on a lot of the time. I don't care if that makes me sound uncultured. It's just how it is.
Tennant's performance was good - although I think he needed to speak up during some moments. But we were right at the back maybe that's why - it reminded me a lot of his portrayal of The Doctor actually but I guess there's not that much of a difference between Shakespeare and sci-fi, thematically.
Anyway, I don't think I'll make a habit of seeing Shakespeare epics.
In other news: I've somehow managed to spend quite a lot in the post-Christmas sales - most have been online purchases but we did hit the shops on Boxing Day where I got a couple of things.
(sorry for the big pic. New imagshack sucks so I had to upload directed to livejournal instead)
Cool Dino-sir T-shirt from Henry Holland in Debenhams - reduced to £12something. Taylor Swift's Taylor perfume gift set (to sit on my shelf with all the other celebrity endorsed perfume I never use) - reduced to £11.50 in Boots.
Then I found some Keds on amazon.com. Reduced, of course. One pair was £10something and the other was £9something. I don't need both pairs really but had to buy them for those prices. I'm looking forward to wearing them in the summer.
I've ordered some more things on newlook.com and some really nice brogues on johnlewis.com (hopefully they'll fit) but they haven't arrived yet. Hopefully Monday.
