I watched "Elementary" last night - 1x05 - thought this episode was pretty good as usual. I'm not loving this show but I am liking it. The case was pretty decent although I totally guessed who the killer was, mainly because he was played by David Constabile (who seems to have guest starred in all of my shows recently), as soon as we saw him in the early scene I figured it out. He's quite a big guest star (I think?) and so there would have been no point in him being there otherwise.
I thought we got some decent characterisation this week again - mainly for Joan which I thought was pretty cool. It was good having the case be in a hospital so we could see a glimpse of her previous life. Also interesting that she was suspended and could have gone back but she decided not to. I liked seeing that side of her, especially when she realised what was wrong with her friends patient. I also liked Sherlock backing her up by telling her that usually your gut instinct is right.
After that I watched "Alphas" - 2x09 - which I thought was okay. To be honest I'm really not feeling this show this season. I'm not sure why. I think during the first half of the season they were trying to be a bit too clever and complicated and that didn't work for me. I still love Ryan Cartwrights performance of Gary (always brilliant) but I don't know if that's enough.
