Sam had left for a few hours, leaving his brother with Bela so she wouldn't be alone so close to the baby's due date. He just needed some air, Ever since Sam had moved in, he and Bela had fallen quickly into the roles of husband and wife. No more demon contracts to keep them from investing their hearts into this
( ... )
"Wait... now? You still have another week." He got up, starting to walk to the door, then rushing back for his bags and then making his way out. Books and coffee forgotten.
"Dean's taking you to the hospital, right? I will meet you there."
"Yes, we're on our way now," Bela took a deep breath, closing her eyes as they got into the elevator and another contraction hit her. "Get there soon."
Sam gunned the engine, then ran into the emergancy door. "Hello?" he asked, hitting the bell a few times until a nurse came out. "Hi, my wife, she's in labor."
"Is she outside?" The nurse snapped her fingers for two orderlies to get a chair.
"No, my brother's bringing her but they'll be here any minute."
"Good. You fill this out, and we'll wait outside." The nurse went around the desk after giving Sam a clipboard of forms.
"Black Impala!" he shouted after them, then started to fill in the blanks. They had gone over how to fill the papers out already, and he had a copy of her medical card in his wallet to use for the rest.
Bela and Dean pulled up a few minutes later, the medical people swarming Bela as she got out, before Dean pulled away and went to park. She just did as she was told, too scared and overwhelmed to do anything else.
As they wheeled her in, Sam was right at the desk. The paperwork was done and he just ran to her side, getting down on his knees. "Hey, I'm here," he said, smoothing the hair on her head as he kissed her forehead. "I told you he was going to gain your impatience..."
"I hope he ends up something like me or I'm demanding a paternity test," he joked, standing up and walking along with her as the orderlies started to take her to the maternity ward.
She smiled slightly at that, her hand finding his and giving it a soft squeeze. She was at the point where she didn't care how pathetic it may or may not have looked. She was worried, she didn't have any reason not to be, and that wasn't a fun feeling for her.
He hated having to stay outside the room while the doctors and nurses did their tests, checking to see how far along Bela was and what their next step was. He was pacing in the hallway, unable to sit down.
He had no idea where his brother was. And he needed him. Bela needed Sam and Sam needed Dean and in a few hours there was going to be a infant boy who would change all of their lives and he wasn't ready. Suddenly Sam realized just how not ready he was for this and his pacing picked up speed in nervousness.
Dean was in a few minutes later. "Sorry that took me so long, I had to park in the middle of friggin' nowhere." Stupid parking garages. He moved over and placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, looking into the room.
"The doctors are checking her over to make sure things are going ok." He looked at his brother, the panic evident in his eyes. "Dean, I can't do this..."

He stopped outside of Bela's car that he had borrowed for this trip. "I love you," he told her.
