Sam had fallen asleep on the couch after spending most of the night finalizing his plan with Dean. Dean had left in the early morning hours to get some sleep at the motel down the street while Sam stayed and made his game plan.
He had been awake when Bela had first woken up, but as the hours ticked by he knew he needed to rest, and his body decided the couch was as good a place as any.
So she found him stretched out on the couch, one arm across his eyes, the other over the book that was open but upside down on his chest.
His chest rose and fell slowly in his deep sleep, not bothered by nightmares, nor the task ahead that night.
She didn't want to wake him up, but at the moment she knew she didn't have a choice. Dean was going to be back soon and they needed to be ready to do this. To be honest, she also envied him for being able to sleep like this, but there wasn't a lot they could do about it on her end.
She made her way over, sitting down on the edge of the coffee table as she tried to get his attention, shaking his arm lightly. "Sam?"
Bela smiled slightly, before looking over at him. "I prefer to think of myself as a realist. Good things don't exactly come along all that often for me."
He took a deep breath, then looked up at her. "Well, good things don't exactly fall in my lap all the time too, you know. But I try to find the good things in what I'm given."
Sam made a sandwich from the things in the fridge while holding his phone to his ear, talking to his brother and making sure the last minute stuff was ready. Shotguns loaded, wards ready...
"Yeah, Dean, I know... alright... yeah, we'll meet you downstairs in ten minutes. Later."
Taking the last bite of his sandwich he walked back into the living room. "He'll be here in ten minutes."

"Hey. What time is it?" he asked.

At this point, she'd just be satisfied if she could just sleep through the night and not just stuff her face or spend it puking. Either way.

Sam reached out to take her hand. "Maybe figure out how you want me in it."

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," she said slowly, needing someone to be the voice of reason. "Let's actually see if this works first."

He smiled, then slowly stood up. "Well, let me get something to eat and call Dean to see where he is, and we'll get this started."
