She sunk into the couch in her apartment, staring at the phone, knowing that she should probably pick it up and call. She owed him that much. She knew that she could easily take care of this, pretend it never happened and Sam would never have to know, just in case he didn't save her. She had three months left, after all. She shouldn't go through with this. It was the responsible thing to do. She didn't have to tell Sam.
And yet, for some reason, she felt he had the right to know. Because this wasn't just about her. This wasn't just hers. This was something that was part of both of them, and she wasn't going to take it away from him, and much as she knew she should. As much as she knew that this would kill him if he couldn't save her in the end -- well, save both of them now. It would crush him. Yet, all the same, she couldn't not tell him.
She sighed slightly, before reaching forward, picking up the phone and pulling up Sam's number. She still paused before hitting send, staring at the screen, wondering if she really did still want to do this. She knew it was the right thing to do. She just thought it would be something she'd never have to do. She hit send, then placed the phone to her ear, leaning back against the couch and waiting for him to pick up.
