Let me Hold you Baby and tell you It's Gonna be Alright...

Sam told Bela to stay in the car while he leaned against the hood, the disgusting dried hand wrapped in a cloth. Soon, Dean stormed out of the party, Gertie on his arm. Sam licked his lips, unable to keep from laughing at the look of anger on Dean's face ( Read more... )

"Agreed," Bela replied, equally dry, as she leaned back against the seat, watching her payday drive off with Dean in the car. That wasn't the way she had envisioned the job going down, but then again, she hadn't envisioned her temporary husband and his brother showing up and getting in her way.

She didn't say anything to him, just leaned back in the seat and sighed, just wanting to get this over with and the Winchesters out of her hair. Again.

Driving back to her place was going to take some time. And Sam hated silence. That was what the radio always filled, so he leaned over to turn on the one in the car.

It was SIRUS radio. And he had no idea how the hell to find something to listen to. After a few minutes of frustration, he turned it off and leaned back against his seat, staring at the red light.

Bela wasn't exactly comfortable with the silence, either, but what did she really have to say? It wasn't like this was easy for her, by any means. She wanted to ask about her deal, to see if he had found anything, but that would involve hoping for something she couldn't be sure she was going to have.

She wanted Sam to fix this, but she didn't know how to ask.

He hadn't figured it out yet. talking to Bobby and some other of the research gurus in the hunters world came up with nadda. zilch. zero. Kiss your wife goodbye, Sam.

As they got to her hotel, he drove around to the parking space the car had been in earlier. When it was parked, he sighed.

"You need me for anything else?" he asked, looking over at her. He was hoping she wasn't that angry at him.

She looked over at him as she unbuckled her seat belt before shaking her head slightly.

She opened the door and was getting ready to climb out when she turned back to him. This really should be easier. And she didn't want to prolong the awkward silence any longer, but -- well, consider this her attempting to be nice since he was attempting to come help her out.

"Your brother's probably not going to be back for a while -- want to come up for a drink?" She hated drinking alone.

He hesitated for a moment, then nodded and got out of the car. "Yeah, the way Gertie was looking at Dean, might be lucky to see him alive in a few hours."

A drink sounded perfect right about now.

She smirked, before climbing out and closing the door behind her. "She's harmless, for the most part -- I'm sure she'll only bite if Dean asks her to."

Sam stopped a moment. "Then we can only hope he resists the urge to tell her to 'bite me'."

Bela laughed, shaking her head as she made her way into the hotel. "Your brother was never the brightest bulb on the tree. They'll probably be the first words out of his mouth."

"Let's just hope there's pie to soothe his wounds afterwards."

Sam slipped out of his jacket and slung it over his shoulder, following her to her room.

Bela led the way up to the room, using her key card to open the door. She held the door open for him as she moved in, sitting down on the edge of the bed to kick off her shoes.

"What's your poison?"

"Vodka, please." He put the jacket on the back of the chair, his tie loosened as he sat on the couch.

"Nice room."

"I always like to travel in style," she smirked, before stretching slightly and heading over to the mini bar to pour them their drinks. She poured him his, before handing it over to him, and then turning back to pour one of her own.

"Well, when you can live the life, don't see why you shouldn't." He put his feet up on a table. "Maybe I should work some alimony into our divorce."

She laughed, taking her glass before going to settle back on the bed again. "Well, I did leave the offer on the table regarding my impending demise. It's not like I have anyone else to leave the money to."

That may have come out a bit more teasingly than she intended, but it was out there. The gorilla in the room. Maybe now they were actually going to get somewhere.

Sam sighed. "I'm working on that, Bela." He took another long drink of the vodka, suddenly wishing he had asked for something stronger.
