The reason I was dragged kicking and screaming into the Atlantis fandom was the excellence of its rich and creative gen fiction. The reason I stayed? One word: team. There's something magical between Sheppard, McKay, Teyla and Ronon and I was always ready to tune in for more to see and after, more to read.
horridporrid has a
lovely post saying this more eloquently and at length.
The most recent challenge, "team", at
sga_flashfic has produced a wonderful crop of deliciously teamy stories and here are the stand-outs:
Board Wars by
jadesfire2808 and
greyias (graphics heavy)
jade kept warning that something cracky was coming and boy did they deliver. Hilarious and perfect voices all the way through as the team steadily demolishes every board game in their path.
We Don't Talk About It by
tielanAnother hilarious showing. I agree with Lorne, it was definitely a mistake to let Sheppard pick his team.
The World is My Creation (
part 1 ) (
part 2 ) by
kristen999,
wildcat88, and
everybettyThis has everything! Humour, action, crazy aliens, hurt, comfort and good, adorable team.
Story of a Knife by
cat_77cat really showcases how seamlessly the team works together through a knife. Very cool.
with their flashlights and their semaphores, text by
wintercreek, art by
cryptocatAn off-world trust ritual forces the team's bonds into the open. And the lovely art ties in so well! How I love it. You just want to snuggle them.
Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda by
liketheriverrunThree teams for the price of one!! Hurrah! Ordinarily an original character point of view can overwhelm the main characters. But liketheriver handles it with such skill, you get a great look at Sheppard's team as Slater muses about his own great one.
Sings the Tune Without the Words by
ceitieA sad one here (and not even by
vain_glorious!?) but ceitie writes the team so well even when they don't even know themselves! ceitie's promised to write more and I'm going to hold her to it because I want more of this verse.
