a Pushing Daisies post of great thought.

Alight, spoilers ahead, so I will put some things under cuts.

Romance on Pushing Daisies.

Pushing Daisies is a very romantic show, no doubt about that. We have a love crossing many boundaries, and one unrequited so very strong. I was thinking today about the possible ships of the show.

The Obvious:

My personal PD OTP, the wonderfully quirky relationship between Ned and Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles is perfectly deserving of my favorite adjective for this show: adorable. Chuck lived with her dear, reclusive aunts most her life, and has a wide spectrum of booksmarts but not a lot of room to use them in real life. Ned created a life of solidarity for himself due to his 'gift', and needs someone bursting with loads of energy to break him out of his shell.

We know that Chuck always wanted to do this for her aunts, but they were in much deeper than Ned was. Through the five episodes so far, we have definitely seen a more involved, cheerful Ned, and he has been able to keep his childhood sweetheart grounded and amused.

They seem to have a wonderfully normal relationship, save for the fact they cannot touch and that Chuck was briefly dead. They have small little problems to overcome (as Chuck herself said), they have things in common and differences, and they have a routine.

The underdog ship: Olive Snook is dearly besotted with Ned, but he is too wrapped up in Chuck and his work to notice. Would a relationship between them truly work?

The factors are these: Ned hasn't showed his true self to Olive at all. Currently, she is in love with an idea of Ned being her perfect prince charming. But no one is perfect, and how would she feel if she knew all his baggage, his true personality, or his 'gift'?

Could Ned fall for Olive? She is definitely not afraid of touch, some Ned is very afraid of. Would she drag him out of his shell or push him farther into it? Do they even have a thing in common?

Emerson Cod is a sarcastic, greedy, impatient, loud, and opinionated man. Watching the show, there has not been one person that I could imagine him with. He seems to be very annoyed by both Chuck and Olive, who get in the way of his daily flow (and cash flow). In fact, the only person he does seem to get along with, and only on his own, is Ned. So, as a natural slasher, I will start with.

Emerson/Ned:

I don't really even see this ship, and I can find slash for anyone. Let's face the facts, Ned is completely enthralled by Chuck, and only met Emerson by chance. They interact mostly for crime opportunities where Ned can use his 'gift' for good. Emerson seems to enjoy Ned mostly for the fact that Ned rakes in the cash. But Emerson seems to be the first adult friend Ned ever had, and is also the first person to find out about his 'gift'. In my eyes, it doesn't go farther.

Emerson/Olive:

It is obvious to see that Emerson has no problem bringing Olive down a notch, which he has done before. She only uses him as an outlet for information on Ned and Chuck, and he seems to blow her off at any opportunity he can. But, they both seem to be extra wheels when it comes to Ned and Chuck and share a distaste for Chuck.

Emerson/Chuck:

She definitely annoys the hell out of him. She just barged in, alive again, to interrupt the flow of his life. She wastes his minute, barges in on conversations (with Ned's permission, which doesn't matter to Emerson), and follows him and Ned around. I don't see it, but I could see how someone would go about shipping them.

Chuck/Olive:

Chuck is a perpetually happy person (unless remembering her aunts). She is always polite to Olive, because she doesn't see a reason not to be. Olive hates Chuck for 'taking away' Ned and for 'faking her death'. They seemed to bond a bit in the latest episode, and it might even go further. They are the only gals around, and a friendship could form (but more likely an acquaintance). As for shipping, femmeslash can be mighty fun, and they both do share a passion for the same guy, who doesn't want one of them and can't touch the one he wants to.

Olive/Alfredo Aldarisio.

Alfredo is the charming traveling herbal remedies salesman, who definitely seems to like Olive (fixing the espresso machine, giving her his opinions, lending an ear, and offering his material). She doesn't really notice him, wrapped up in Ned so much, and finds his selling to be annoying in the Pie Hole. But they both share similar types of fears and he could be just the balance she needs, Ned be damned.

Any others you see? Aunts/someone? Digby/Pidge? Explain!

Notes:
-I refer to what Ned can do in ''s because, as Monk always says, "It's a gift, and a curse".
-Does anyone else think it weird we don't know Ned's surname?
