Just when one thinks the coast is clear...

Forgive me for only posting about my eye. That said, I found out yesterday that the retina in my good eye has detached about 45% of the way.

Since the last surgery, my vision has been slowly but surely improving as days pass, and just yesterday I went from reading just the big E at the top of the eye chart to being able to read about 6 or 7 lines into it.

The doctor (as well as myself and everyone else that knows about it) is baffled; the control of my blood glucose levels have been great the past few months. For Pete's sake, my vision is getting better. So why now?

After the last few months, not much surprises me any more. I'm not shedding a single tear over this. I'm more upset over the fact I'm missing out on Thanksgiving in Punta Gorda, FL. That was gonna be a good time.

Here's a quick run-down of the surgery:

~retina 45% detached
~70/30 success rate, the 30 not being failure but need for more surgery
~a scleral belt (like the one they put on my right eye) will be placed around my left eye, assuring me tons of pain
~gas bubble will be inserted to hold the retina in place while it heals; position I'll have to lay while it's there: unknown

On an unrelated note, I hppe everyone has an absolutely fantastic Thanksgiving. Eat til your seams are bursting, and then eat some more for me. Be thankful for the things you have, and the things you don't.

I guess I'm outta here for now. Yall be good while I'm gone. :)
