Spencer and Ryan have not spoken to each other outside of interviews for two months. Spencer doesn't really see this changing any time soon.

"Spencer. I thought you should know, um," Brendon scuffed a hand through his hair and looked at the ground. "It's just that. Ryan called a band meeting last night, got Pete on the phone and all."
"Well thanks for telling me in time to get there." The sarcasm is instinctive, but Brendon raised his eyes to meet Spencer's and smiled without any humor at all. Spencer realized the implication and sank down against the wall. "So. You're here to, to kick me out?"
"Jesus God, Spencer, thanks a whole fucking lot." Brendon snapped. He ran his hands through his hair again, muttering curses. He inched further into the room. "First of all, I'm not you. I won't do his dirty work for him. And, no, actually first of all, fuck you, Jon and I would never let him do that."
Spencer nodded, a jerky motion that banged his head against the wall. Brendon rolled his eyes and crouched down in front of him, their knees just barely touching. Spencer knew there was more: Ryan had forced the issue, and now they had to do something about it instead of just ignoring the situation. Brendon pushed his glasses up slightly to rub at his eye, and Spencer reached out to snag the edge of the frames with his finger. He fumbled them slightly, but didn't drop them. Brendon frowned, and Spencer shrugged in answer to the unspoken question.
"The whole world's gone fuzzy. It's not fair that, for you. To be able to see." Spencer said.
"This isn't working anymore, Spence." Brendon said quietly. "We've got to take a break."
Spencer laughed suddenly; a raspy, choking noise that made Brendon jerk back. It was good that he did, because then the alcohol caught back up to him and Spencer leaned over to puke into the toilet again.

Yeah, I don't really think it's going anywhere, but that whole scene jumped into my head right before class. But I don't know why they're fighting, I was just thinking about people who had been friends for so long, and what an utter trainwreck Spencer and Ryan could be if they ever had an actual, serious falling out.
(In my head, Ryan tries to get Pete to find them a replacement drummer during the meeting even after Jon and Brendon have said no, and Ryan keeps pushing them until Brendon says "I quit" and walks out. He stays up all night at an arcade down the street from their hotel, until he realizes that he's actually feeling relieved and not pissed. He goes to Spencer's room first thing in the morning, and by the end of the day they're both flying home. Jon stays with Ryan until they're gone, and he's the one who Pete calls to ask if Panic is really, seriously, done. Jon says it is, and when he hangs up the phone he realizes Ryan is the only one who isn't relieved by that fact.)
