The Doctor was baffled.
He'd stepped right from the TARDIS and into a small coffee shop - and it looked as if he'd been expected. On a table just in front of him, there was a small dessert (he smelled bananas, and was the ice cream coconut?), a cup of tea, and a small card. He couldn't help but think it was meant for him, and he approached it, slowly.
"Well, this would be silly of me, wouldn't it?" he said aloud, seriously. "Eating food set out specifically to my taste. Could be poisoned. Or have some kind of tracking or data-gathering particle in it." He watched the food very seriously for a moment, as if he were expecting it to suddenly lurch forward and confirm his suspicions. Suddenly, though, a grin broke out across his face and he quickly scrambled into the chair, helping himself to cream and sugar for his tea.
When the barista approached him and began talking, he listened, intently - and when she left, he suddenly realised he had a lot to think about. This place was a gateway to other worlds? He thought all places like this had been sealed up hundreds of years ago; that the Time Lords had made sure that nothing like this could be accessed. He was silent as he slowly ate a spoonful of ice cream, mulling the idea over in his mind.
So he could visit any place he imagined? He could walk outside the door and go anywhere? What kind of trouble could people get in to, if they landed themselves here as easily as he had and had access to just world imaginable?
Troublesome, indeed.
Still, he stretched out a bit, glancing about the café with a half-smile on his face. He needed to stick around and see a little more of this place before he decided what to do about it. He might as well enjoy it. Maybe he could find someone to talk to. Travelling alone was starting to make him stir-crazy.
