I have no idea why this didn't crosspost

-We had four submissions for critique group yesterday. For one, we got into a discussion about how middle schoolers would talk about racial disparities. The main character is a 12 year old half-Puerto Rican, half white kid, and he has friends who are Vietnamese and Haitian. The general thought was the kids sounded mature for their years. I racked my brains to think of some good examples to send to the (white) author. I came up with Binti by Nnedi Okorafor, Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff, and How Long 'til Black Future Month? by NK Jemisin. None of those is perfect, but I thought it would be a good starting point. It made me realize I haven't read a lot of YA stuff that deals with race.

Speaking of writing, I wrote an abysmal 700 words last week. I've really tanked the last three weeks. I don't even remember what I did last week to account for my lack of productivity. I watched Futureman and What We Do in the Shadows I read?

We tried to get Andy to watch Monsters Inc. yesterday. He wasn't that interested. Unfortunately, Sully and Mike have a distinct lack of trucks.

For Mother's Day, I have been super lazy. I got up at 7, had pancakes, and dozed on the couch until 11 or so. I did receive some lovely presents. Andy drew a picture of us (and also wrote "Ambulance" on it, for some reason :). The most amusing one though, was I got a Cameo. It's a service where celebrities (I use that term loosely) will send you a personalized video message. Dave got me a message from Greg Sestero. I'm sort of obsessed with this site now and seeing all the has-beens and never weres Who Really Need the Money.

I wish BoJack had done an episode based on this. BoJack performs his cameos drunk and tells long rambling stories. Then he gets mad because Mr. Peanutbutter charges more money. Diane decries the whole thing as tacky. And the whole service was started by Todd :)
