[What kind of a dumb question is that? Conan's investigating -- which is to say he's standing in the doorway giving Kaito the sort of look that is usually reserved for Genta.]

[And here is the cavalry -- and for some reason he's got a puppy with him. Go figure.]

[Kit is pretty occupied with washing his hands in the sink, so unless the Conan duo says something, he might not even notice they're there]

[stiffening almost immediately and lapsing into silence, before mumbling something inaudible to himself and replying]

[This gets a shocked gasp from the first Conan to arrive on the scene.]

Kit-san, how could you? That's the first rule! No killing!

[His counterpart nudges him.] Kit-san doesn't know us as well as we know him. He probably assumes we think he attacked someone.

So what's the story then, Kit-san, and do you need help?

[The puppy is bold enough to slip through the door and start sniffing around the room. It's an odd looking puppy -- head too pointed for one -- and it doesn't have a collar.]

[flips off the water and gives his damp hands a shake as he glances over at Dynamic!Conan with a sour expression]

Ooooi. Don't think so little of me. I haven't hurt anyone.

[dynamic_brat]

Oi, you're the one who said you had! You said 'it's not what you think' and I'd never believe you'd hurt someone, so what else could you mean? You should apologize -- we're your friends you know!

[The other Conan raises an eyebrow.]

You're his friend.

[Puppy is continuing to sniff everything he can, working slowly towards Kaito.]

[just_kitting]

[pffffft] You're detectives. I thought you'd automatically think I did something.

[eyeing puppy now]

[dynamic_brat]

[Dynamic!Conan scowls.] I'm not a detective and I don't want to be a detective! I'm going to be a -- an architect or something, so there!

[His companion patted his arm.] And those of us who are detectives are better detectives than to make that assumption. You've successfully changed the subject, Kit-san. Are you going to explain?

[Feeling Kaito's gaze, Puppy looks up, finds himself being watched and sits down. After a moment, his tail wags hopefully.]

It poured out from a bunch of giant red threads during a game.

Giant red threads.

[Dynamic!Conan seems equally unimpressed.] Ewww.

[Puppy is continuing to slowly wag his tail.]

bends down to pat puppy. good thing his hands are clean-ish now]

Don't look at me. Games are always weird like that. We had to play music on the threads to light up a light bulb in the center of the room until it shattered. When that happened, all the threads broke and blood got everywhere.

[Puppy was hoping you'd do that. Kaito's almost immediately presented with white puppy stomach to pet, the puppy optimistically rolling onto his back.]

[After a sceptical pause for the puppy's antics, swap!Conan sighs.] You don't need us to tell you how weird that is. Is everyone all right?

[just_kitting]

[scritch scratching the puppy's stomach. this is kind of cathartic.

also he hesitates, before he nods]

Yeah. Everyone's fine.

Do you mind if I take a sample of that stuff?

[Puppy meanwhile is basking on his back in happiness, tail continuing to wag as he gets petted. Dynamic!Conan is coming over to join in.]
