This new arrival could be Kaito or Shinichi, the hair halfway between Kaito's messiness and Shinichi's combed down flatness. He's quite obviously carrying a gun strapped to his hip, a small-calibre weapon in a well-cared for holster. There are other weapons secreted on his person, not quite as obvious. Some are as simple as a knife kept up one ( Read more... )

This time, it's a protest about having to have vegetables at lunch.

Ran scans the lobby briefly, before heading down one of the halls, scanning for anything that could provide a hiding place for a seven year old. Her gaze falls on the new arrival and she stares. It's -- a bit weird to see Shinichi and its that which keeps her from greeting him.

And in that pause Ran registers the clothing.

He pauses, having heard her approach, looking her over with a quick, impersonal glance. One eyebrow ticks up in a silent query; he knows his double is good enough to fool Vermouth and himself, so this could be him.

And if it isn't... well, then it isn't. And whoever it is can provide answers as to why and how he is here. However much he has to persuade them.

Ran notes the eyebrow raise, the lack of recognition in the gaze -- she's not sure whether she's relieved that this particular Shinichi has failed to recognise her or relieved.

He seems to be waiting for her to make the first move, and wishing she still had the costume, Ran did. Slipping a hand in her pocket she activated the radio-link between her and her Conan before approaching. "Shinichi?"

A startled blink this time, slipping easily into a new role; when blankness is the first face presented, it's easy to build into anything from that.

"...Japanese?" he asked, looking surprised. "I'm sorry, ma'am but no, I don't know this... Shinichi."

Black. Black and armed. Black and armed and walking that thin line between Shinichi and Kaito in appearance.

Conan stands in a doorway, watching silently.

He notices him, almost immediately; not as quickly if he was making noise, but with alarming quickness nevertheless.

He knows that face, hidden behind glasses as it is; he's seen it in a mirror and opposite him, beside him when he was younger. Could there be more of them out there? More bright, precocious children with the same genetic bent as them?

He takes this in quickly, barely two seconds pause before he speaks.

"Where am I?"

"Who are you?" Black clothing is a danger signal, and Conan's voice is innocent and questioning and childish.

"Tsukuda Taro." A pre-prepared false name, complete with background, lifestyle, habits... no need to make anything up on the fly here.

He quirked an eyebrow, the first show of any emotion besides wariness, an act as it was.

"What's yours?"

This Kaito (several years older than many of his counterparts in the mansion, he had found) had positioned himself in one of the chairs in the lobby, feet propped up on a coffee table as he skimmed through (yet another) book on hieroglyphics. Said book is propped lazily in his lap as he watches the new arrival with one eyebrow quirked. Looks like Kudo... wait, no, looks like me?

Dresses like them. Unless he's just trying to set a new fashion trend.

"Lost?" His tone was curious, demeanor deceptively relaxed as he lounged back in his reading chair, elbow resting on the arm and chin in his hand.

He looks at him silently, longer than he needs to take in everything about the other and more... He's confused, a little, scared, hesitant... but in the end, a scant three seocnds later, his training wins out.

"I think so," he replies neutrally. "Where am I?"

"We just call it the Mansion," was Kaito's quick reply, and he shifted in his seat as he pulled his feet off the coffee table. The book was closed with a snap and placed on the table in return. "And before I go into specifics, I'll warn you that the explanation isn't going to make sense at first."

He lifted an eyebrow at the newcomer, gaze studying him carefully. Obviously armed, with a smaller weapon... probably armed in other places as well. Wary, attentive, moves quietly, like he's trained for this. Doesn't look like he's from my world. Huh.

Part of him wondered if he should leave. The other part of him was far too curious to bother. "You still wanna hear it?"

"I haven't had any explanations yet," he replied neutrally. "What you have to tell would be appreciated."

Blue eyes. Those eyes, his eyes, the same as the both of them... this couldn't be a coincidence. And the age of the man in front of him... was it him, or his opposite? And how far ahead? Had they done it yet? Was he even one of them? A solid explanation for this place was what he needed. And if this person was who could give it to him...

He shifted his postion slightly, enough to look relaxed whilst still able to move any way he might need to.

A white blur flew into the room from the window, landing gracefully on his toes, looking at the stranger with a confused look his face, though quickly covering it up with a grin on his face.

He looked like Kudo-kun...though at the same time...him...

He felt an excited feeling overcome him as wanted to know more about this 'stranger' in front of him…

“You don’t belong here, do you?" His tone was filled with humour and curiosity, Hiding the fact that he was on edge around him…
