DOUBLE TEAM! :UhisokakojiNovember 11 2011, 02:02:58 UTC
"Hahhhhh... Ayumi-chan, what were you doing again..?" So says the young 'teen' walking beside an equally 'grown up' Ayumi as they walk into the room.
Ayumi for her part is a bit red in the face and cradling a burnt hand. "It... I was just playing with my cards, I don't know how..!!"
"Yeaaaaa...." Sigh... It's about now that they get to the point where they can actually see Conan though. Koji's reaction. "...Another one..?" More or less expected.
Ayumi's? "Ah! C-Conan-kun?! Are you alright..!?!" ...
Conan looked over at the voices at the door. He didn't recognize Koji, at all, but that became less important because even if she's older, he can recognize Ayumi. And she was hurt, which was definitely the more important thing to be paying attention too.
"Ayumi-chan?!" And he's hopping off the stool and hurrying over. "What about you?! Your hand, what happened to it?"
And wincing as Koji rolls his eyes and gets something for it. "I thought I told you not to move that..."
"H-Hai, hai..!" She shakes her head. "It's just a small burn really- I'm not really sure how I got it though, I was just playing with my cards..."
"...Which smell like smoke by the way."
"Koji-kun..!!" Ayumi's protest is sadly ignored as the mini-Gin handling medical supplies smirks. A sigh- and then she turns back to Conan. "That's nothing compared to you though- what happened..!!"
"The Lady of the Sky heist," Conan said. What? She's older and was there. If she knows about it from her past, it makes things easier in the explanation department.
He's still moving to look over her burn, grabbing her wrist gently to get a closer look. Even if he wasn't the actual adult his counterparts were, he still cared deeply for his friends and was extremely protective of them. "I'll want to look at these cards. That isn't normal."
Ayumi grimaces rather openly at the mention of the heist- though before she can say much...
"Ta-daaahhh." Have a deck of... 'Duel Monster' cards handed to you, and perhaps note that the jacket Ayumi is wearing is not at all similar to any middle school uniform in Tokyo's general range...
"AH- K-Koji-kun, how did you-"
He snorts. "Tch- You're always carrying these, it's hard not to know where..." Oooh! So invasive!
As it is, have a nice look at Ayumi's cards... Funny, the burn DOES look electrical...
Conan wasn't too worried. The bleeding had pretty much stopped by now, it was just wrapping it all up so it could heal.
Though the fact that this 'Koji' apparently picked Ayumi's pocket did finally get him Conan's attention. Who WAS this kid? As a general rule, there was only a limited amount of people the hotel pulled in and this kid had such distinctive hair. Surely he'd have remembered someone like him and he didn't seem like a Digimon with the whole soul connection thing. So...who was he?
Still, he took the cards carefully, looking them over. Things were registering as Not Right here, but he couldn't quite put his finger on them.
After all, he still defaulted to logic for most things.
"Let's treat that burn first," Conan said, handing back the cards and pulling Ayumi over to the stool. "A few cuts from grazes aren't as likely to get infected as burns do."
Of course the stool was put right beside the sink and Conan hopped up to start the water, just on the cold side of warm, making sure the flow was gentle. "Hold your hand over the water for a few minutes," he said before hopping down to head to the medicine cabinet.
He could feel the staring. It would have been impossible too, since now he was paying attention to Koji himself. "Were you by any electronics when you were burned, Ayumi?"
He's noticed that. Not saying anything yet though.
While Ayumi puts her hand under the water however, he does hold out a few things. "Seeing how you plan on playing 'doctor'," he notes with a just barely dry tone.
"Koji-kun, isn't that what you were doing..?"
"..."
Ayumi sighs. "Hn-" Oh- Conan's question!! "Ah... No. I was really just sorting through my deck... Another group of Conan-kuns... And Conan-chan," she adds, "Were a little interested, so I wanted to make sure it was ready for anything if they found something without me."
Conan paused and then looked sheepish. "Ah, sorry. Just I get worried and if everyone has told you about our adventures of the Shonen Tantei, getting a bit banged up isn't that uncommon," he said. Usually it was him, but it did happen to the kids sometimes.
But he's getting the medicine first, some aspirin. "Take these. It'll help with the swelling and any pain," he said, holding out the pills to Ayumi's good hand.
"And then you were just burned suddenly?" He asked, frowning and there's that look of Conan trying to connect pieces, but knowing he was missing SOMETHING vital.
"Mn- thanks, Conan-kun." They're swallowed quickly enough, and after a few moments she shakes her head. "But that's right- I just remember getting annoyed about something, and suddenly..."
"I'm telling you the cards are 'cursed'..."
"Gh- They're just cards..!"
"Cards that cause electric shocks..."
"It wasn't the cards Koji-kun..!" Really, worse than when he's arguing with Conan...
As it is, Koji's shaking his head and looking back to Conan with a rather dead-serious look. "I've heard a few stories. Trust me- it's the stuff that happened after grade three that really 'bangs people up'..."
Cursed cards? "He might have a point. Cursed cards wouldn't be the strangest thing. And look, this bull's eye pattern? That's usually from an electrical burn," he said and frowned. "Not that I can prove that. I don't have any magic to check something like that, but there are others with powers."
He actually looked surprised when Koji mentioned after grade three. "So I'm still..." And he actually looks HAPPY at that. Surely if he's still around, it was yet another world where he might have actually existed.
Which is always good in his book.
"I think that should be enough water. Let me see your hand, Ayumi-chan."
"We're in a dimensional nexus where there's at least a dozen other people with my face and name and the Conan who I roomed with was treated by a girl whose partnered with a sentient worm made of computer data and wishes," Conan said. He wouldn't mention that Conan was also a spirit, that was a sensitive topic. "'Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.' What else could some of these worlds be other than magic?"
Conan gently dried her hand regardless of how serious it was or wasn't. Ayumi was his precious friend and there was a reason he was still ridiculously over protective of them and unwilling to let them get hurt even when he's a kid himself. He wrapped up her hand with gauze, being careful not to be too tight.
"Considering the trend of this place, I'm not sure you even know what way I'm thinking," Conan replied and paused. "Especially since I still can't put my finger on who you are yet."
"M-Mm... I... I guess, but that still means why world isn't..."
She's cut off by Koji's abrupt move to sit up, eyes snapping toward him as he gives a strange 'grin' toward Conan. "Can't put your finger on it..? And here I'd thought you were just playing..." Strange glint in his eyes too... "Hehehehe... No wonder you smell 'off'..."
"Eh? Koji-kun?" Ahhh, the 'fun' the clueless had...
Conan looked over at the abrupt movement. "What...?"
And then he felt it. That cold dread in the pit of his stomach, alarm bells going off in his head, and he KNOWS that grin. Things he's caught sight of, just at the edge of being caught.
And he's immediately moving so he's between Ayumi and Koji, watch up. "Ayumi, how long have you known 'Koji-kun?'"
There it was, something probably far more familiar. The serious, unwavering eyes of the detective who was going to protect the innocent. Because the connection has just been made and this one obviously KNOWS that he's 'supposed to be' involved and that was every reason to be wary immediately.
Ayumi for her part is a bit red in the face and cradling a burnt hand. "It... I was just playing with my cards, I don't know how..!!"

Yea, that's probably expected too.

Well whatever it is, Koji seems to be trying to figure it out himself- maybe that's why he's quiet for once. And... Just watching.
Damn it, stop staring.

As it is, here's her hand- the burn's gone down not that it was that serious.
Koji's got an... Odd look on his face though. "Still there... Not in the way you're probably thinking though," he adds with a muttered cough.
