I dunno if I need it, but I want to get better! Writing now is hard and I don't know how to write everything I want to say like Ginia-neesan does. Can you help me with that?

I write to Ginia all the time. I think I could probably help.

Do you? Oh, do you know if she likes any special kind of writing best? I want to learn something she will like. Or words she would like to see written.

[Though seeing how she'll like probably anything the kid writes they can just go for the general thing. Anyway, the monkey isn't going to wait for an answer to that.]

When do we start?

[Patience, he has it.]

[It's just love, no need to fear it.]

Okay!! I'll go find a pencil!

[Don't pay attention to the crashing sounds behind the curtain. He'll be back soon.]

Oh, uhm... You write letters, right? I was learning to write those, like the ones Ginia uses. I know you're old but you're nowhere near ancient, right?

[Just making sure here.]

Ange-neesan said ancient people used drawings instead of letters. But only Egyptians or something like that, you're not that, right?

I'm not using drawings now, am I?

And no, I'm not Egyptian. Technically, I'm English, although that doesn't mean very much here.

Here in the village? I'm not sure there is very much. Everything we say or write is translated so other villagers can understand it.

Why are things wrote in a sign an exception?

[... Actually...]

What's an exception?

When a rule should apply to something, and doesn't, and when there's actually nothing wrong with the fact that it doesn't?

That's an exception.

I understand. Any rule can has an exception?

Not every rule does, but any rule can.

How do you know if a rule has one?
