Here's some more music things!
Frontline Assembly and Delerium - A Poem for Byzantium This track is a pretty thing, and totally unlike anything else ever done by either group. Their co-operative work has produced some impressive things, actually, such as an excellent cover of U2's "New Year's Day". Ironically, this is the mellowest stuff either of the groups has done, to my knowledge.
Paradise Lost - Xavier Another cover - this being a more unlikely one. Here we have German metal band, Paradise Lost, doing a cover of a Dead Can Dance track. For those of you who are familiar with the latter, this will sound very, very strange to you. It works. Trust me.
Katatonia - Burn the Remembrance This is a neat song. It's kind of 90's like, but yet...not. Worth a listen.
Diary of Dreams - Blind in Darkness This one's a very weird thing, indeed. Kind of creepy, and cool. I've got more creepy coming in this post, incidentally, so if you like it, stay tuned. This is from the Vampire: The Masquerade soundtrack (yes, I own this - kill me now, so that the suffering will end). A lot of good stuff comes from that album...go figure.
Kristeen Young - Rotting on the Vine Another creepy, slow-paced thing. I like these - can't you tell? This is also from the V:tM soundtrack. The band is described on their website as (heh) "Diamanda Galas stalking Kate Bush". I don't know why, but that statement is highly amusing to me.
The Merry Thoughts - Sun and the Rainfall This is a great song, by an almost totally unknown group. They sound a bit like the Sisters of Mercy (yay!), but it's a touch less 80s, and a bit more straight (goth) rock.
Lestat - Dark Trick I'm actually not sure if this is the right title or no, but it's a decent enough song (although the canned voices are horrible and cheese-tastic). The group suffers from a severe case of bad-band-name-itis, but at least the song is decent, so I can't complain overmuch. Truth be told, there are far worse names out there - in a future post, I may detail some of these embarrassments to all things spooky.
Dreadful Shadows - New Day We conclude with another excellent song, and another embarrassingly overwrought name (another case of the above disease). But they're German blokes, so we'll forgive them their horribe decision with regards to the English language. However, these guys are good, old-school gothy stuff - they've been around forever (from the mid-80's), and they still sound pretty damn good all this time later.
So yup - more spooky, creepy or angsty fun for your perusal. Enjoy, all! When time permits, I shall dump more things up here. So stay tuned, as it were...
