Teffer and Nick dancing in front of the giant Christmas tree

We all drove down to Massachusetts for family Christmas at Rachel and Jon's beautiful apartment. The American contingent have been driving up to Montreal every couple of months for the past two years, so we decided it was their turn to have a break and the Canadians would come down. We all crowded into their two-bedroom apartment, with air mattresses, thermarests, and sleeping bags. It was a cozy and quick two days of mostly just sitting, eating, talking, and laughing - so warm and full of love.

this, mostly.

I love, I love this kitchen. Just beyond Maro, that open doorway leads into a pantry almost as big as my whole kitchen - complete with shelves, drawers, and a countertop. Amazing.

caroling. Mama is wearing the sweater my Papa was wearing when they met - he kept wearing it up until his death, and she's been wearing it almost daily ever since.

she's so happy when we're all together. it's wonderful.

Jake is seriously the baby whisperer. Put her in his arms and she immediately finds her thumb and settles in.

...but God forbid he start paying attention to someone else in the meantime!

Teffer and Nick gave each of us a stuffed microbe. Rachel and her mad cow disease got on rather well. (Myriam can be seen clutching her chicken pox in the above sleepy baby picture. She was a big fan.)

ethereal Rachel and Mama under the stockings - my camera had just come in from the cold car and had a foggy lense. I like it.

Jake and me, pale and peaky - we were all sick.

more Myriam, with Rachel and Maro... she can almost stand on her own!

Eric's starting her young.

Our teeny tree, making our teeny apartment that much more cozy.

and I leave you with our quiet New Year's Eve, spent on the couch drinking hot toddies and blowing our noses. Here's to this next year being one of peace, quiet, and roots.
