Does the The Clean Act ring a bell?

Those damn liberal media people. I guess it's up to tiny corporations like Clear Channel and Fox News to join forces combat the evil ones. See below.

(from here and another mention of it here)

Fox News To Partner With Clear Channel

"The Wall Street Journal is reporting Fox News will soon become the primary news provider to radio giant Clear Channel. By mid-next year as many as 500 Clear Channel radio stations will be airing hourly five-minute news reports from Fox. Many stations will also carry syndicated talk shows hosted by Fox News personalities."

Fox News Signs Pact With Clear Channel

"Clear Channel announced this morning that it has inked a deal with News Corp.'s Fox News under which Fox will furnish national news to approximately 100 of Clear Channel's News/Talk stations. Under the terms of the deal, Fox News Radio will be the stations' primary source for breaking national news, while Fox will have access to news produced by Clear Channel's local news staffs via the company's Clear Channel News Network. The move gives Fox News Radio - which launched in 2003 - a major push in leveling the playing field with both CBS Radio News and ABC Radio News. The Fox News Radio service provides stations with hourly, one-minute news updates, anchored by correspondents based at the Fox News Channel, that are provided 24/7, much like the hourly newscasts from CBS and ABC. Fox News also offers breaking news updates, as do the two other networks."

It's this kind of crap paired with censorship of something like the Church of Christ commercial that's being banned all over that starts to bring to mind all those Big Brother-sorts of stories I've read over the years. This story wasn't mentioned on NPR or the BBC (my usual new sources) anyway. I would have missed this story completely if not for podcasting. I use the program IPodder to download mp3 files of podcasts or of traditional radio shows from various sites (think rss aggregation except for audio). Then I simply delete yesterday's stuff out of my IPod and put in the new. Democracy Now! carried this story and I also usually catch the Al Franken Factor, as well as other, less serious podcasts. Excellent, excellent stuff.
