We were having a drive around the KU campus this morning before heading for brunch, and we stopped by Murphy Hall so I could gawk around a bit. I haven't been there since the big expansion and renovation, and I wanted to know what became of the courtyard and fountain where I spent so many hours during my grad school days. I have many fond memories of that place, having lunch or hanging out between classes with my chums from the Department of Theatre and Film. I always imagined that the courtyard had been ripped out and built over, but mercifully no...it and fountain are still there in all their blissful, sunny glory. There is just now a new wing of the building defining its southern edge where as before it had been open all the way down to the street.
We walked around a bit, then headed back out. But it was really good to know that one of my favorite spaces on campus still exists!
