I'm sick. This is a sucky time to be sick, because I'm a very emotional sicky, and tend to get the blues. However, I think I hid it pretty well from my actors in rehearsal today, so here's to hoping I can keep it up.
This is going out to everyone, because I don't have the time to answer everyone individually.
Electricians:
The job is May 14th, from 4pm til ?, and May 15th... all day I think? Maybe not, the LD has a day job, so who knows. It's taking down a rep plot at CHAC, and hang/focus for King John. The LD's name is Patti West, and because we're renting the theater, we can't get in earlier. She expressed a need for more electricians that knew what they were doing, and I said I'd put some feelers out. I was originally just going to ask my ME friend from SSC, but I decided to check with all of you on the off chance someone was interested. There was mention of booze, but I have no way of promising any sort of compensation will come to fruition. I would think SOMEthing would be done for the volunteers, because this company is good people. If, after reading this, you're interested - do the following:
Email Patti at pattiwest@theatreoffjackson.org and tell her Elizabeth, the Sound Designer for King John, referred you for some volunteer hang/focus work calls for King John. It is important you include all of that info; she's doing multiple shows, and there are actually TWO M. Elizabeths working on John, so you'll have to remind her that I'm the SD since we've only met once thus far.
This work could lead to contacts for designs, and work calls at the big houses that pay big money. Both are good, complain not.
My Crap:
I still don't have an SM. Sigga and anyone else: Rehearsals are 1-2 evenings a week for 3 hours, and 4 hours on Sat and Sun. One of the weekday rehearsals will just be combat. After May 22nd, a more intense schedule begins - several nights a week, and seven hour a day rehearsals on weekends. I am flexible if you need to miss for something. We trade off being there once we open; there aren't a lot of tech elements, so only one of us needs to be there for a show, and we could trade off. Rehearsals start the 25th. Auditions are THIS FRIDAY (::gasp::) from 3-9, and Saturday from 3-9. If this sounds possible, let me know.
I had a Fight Choreographer just long enough to rejoice that I had one (again), and he backed out for scheduling conflicts.
::deflates::
Anyone who feels like collecting/getting rid of trash, I am seeking the following as props for R&J:
Plastic buckets, paint buckets, coffee tins, tin cans, trash cans, trash can lids.
Broken (or nice, if you feel like giving them up!) mops, brooms, rakes.
Pots and pans, the bigger the better, the trashier looking the better
PVC pipe, steel pipes, scrap metal, car parts, car doors, car dashboards.
Tarp, bolts, nuts, screws, nails, glass bottles of all sizes
Drums sticks, wooden spoons, spatulas, baseball bats, other banging things
Any other noisy trash AND
Tibettan prayer bowls.
In other news, I feel even sicker after writing this, I know I sound like a big whiny baby, and my favorite author is coming out with a new book soon and I have $30 to my name, and no money coming in for quite awhile.
Sugar Daddy / Parental Figures feel free to apply. Must excel at watching TV and petting my head and telling me it'll be okay.
