a little poem i found buried in my hard drive

Jul 29, 2009 23:23

this is from almost exactly a year ago, according to the date on the file, but i honestly don't remember writing it or what was going on then. but, i thought it was pretty decent so i thought i'd share...

The smell of rain on hot asphalt
The feel of the heat radiating up from it
The vision of lightning in the air
The taste of metal on my tongue
The sound of the drops as they fall
The feeling that everything will be as it should be

Rain can wash away
Or remind me of wounds thought long past
Flooding feelings until they float to the forefront
Making melancholy mine
Push them down, my usual mantra
Swallow them with the grain of salt from my unshed tears

Ignore
Abhor
Explore
No more
I’m tired of feeling this way
