We were talking in the car, and I told him how I was supposed to graduate this year, but because I had failed one of the core subjects, I would have to retain.
He asked: So when will you be graduating then?
I said: Seeing as I'm going to fail again..probably not for another 2 years.
He said: Nah you don't look that stupid.
It isn't the most encouraging sentence that one could give, but he spoke so matter-of-factly that it stuck with me. At that time, we'd just met and was only just starting to get acquainted, and I'll probably never get to see him again, but whether it was sincere or not, thanks for thinking I could do better.
I have to get up before 5:30 in the morning tomorrow because I have a leadership training assignment at one of the Secondary schools in the west. It is so freaking early and I should have asked for the school's name before agreeing to take the job! Plus, I have to bring a laptop along and as mine is spoilt, I have to use my dad's, which is really heavy and bulky. The kids better not give me any problems, especially when it comes to game time, because a sleepy woman is an angry woman (at least in my context). And you do not want to ruffle my feathers when I'm tired.
