With graduation, life inevitably changes. I was really excited for it, but I can't say I was completely prepared for it all to happen at once. I was in over my head there for a little while getting things straightened out, but I'm starting to get it all back in line again. So, now that I can think, here's a little update on what's happening with me.
GRADUATION
I graduated at the beginning of August! Even with the struggles we had with non-contributing senior design group members, we made it out with top marks on our project, even though we finished it all of 7 MINUTES before our final presentation. Want to talk about cutting it close? Two sleepless nights, but we made it. Anyway, I got Magna Cum Laude honors, which put me highest out of the Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science group, which made me feel really good about myself. I'm glad I chose to walk at commencement. I enjoyed it a lot.
FULL-TIME JOB
Even though I was already working 40 hours a week all summer, I started my full time job with Lockheed a day and a half after graduating. I was not going to give up a week's pay just to have a vacation before starting work. I figured it would have been vacation enough to not have homework at night, but I guess I was wrong. Still, I now will actually start getting paid vacation. Actually getting paid for Labor Day was pretty cool. The work is rather dull in the team I'm working for right now, but it still pays the bills.
GRADUATE SCHOOL
I know I threw this idea around a bit, and I'm still considering it, but I have decided that I'm not going to apply for a Masters program for the Spring. I am just now starting to catch up from my undergrad, so I need to have at least one or two more semesters to take a break. I am considering just taking a single class as a non-degree seeking student as part of either an Engineering Management degree or Systems Engineering certificate. At least that's what I'm thinking about right now.
HOUSE
In case you didn't know, I'm buying a house. Well, it's actually a townhome, but I'm owning it, and the outdoor maintenance is the responsibility of the homeowners' association. I'm very excited about it. It's brand new, currently under construction. We went to check it out again last night, and they have painted the outside and inside, put the garage door on, doors throughout the house, and laid the tile in the downstairs, upstairs bathrooms, and the laundry room. I have a ton of pictures on my camera from the past couple months, none of which have found their way onto my computer yet or to FaceBook. I'll get to it this week, hopefully. My closing has been set for October 30th, so less than 6 weeks away! Unreal.
GIRLFRIEND
We celebrated our 1 year anniversary over the weekend. It was the first time either of us had been to the Melting Pot, and I must say that I think I've found a new favorite restaraunt. We may have to go back to Seasons 52 sometime just to be sure, but I'm going to have to save the money up again. It's a lot of fun to go to those fancy places, even if it is a long time in between.
CHURCH
We're going to a new one: Tuskawilla Presbyterian. It's much smaller, but we fit into the community much better. I joined to choir, so I sing on Sundays and practice on Wednesdays. It's a lot of fun, and it's only like a 2 minute drive from the driveway of my new house to the church, so it will be very convenient, too, once I move in.
So, that's about all that is going on with me. Hope everyone else is doing well. Once I move into my house, I will hopefully have some time to hang out, but I'm pretty busy right now. Take care!
