As I said, I started one. But I'm going to post things here too, just under cuts. Please be aware that every single one has spoilers (ETA: and the comments do too!) so don't read if you haven't watched the show yet. I haven't given out the actual blog link yet because I still feel like I'm kind of practicing at this right now... but you guys are ( Read more... )

I agree that Crystal should win, but man, I think Lee the most mediocre contestant to make it to Top 2 since Diana DeGarmo. I got Adam's appeal last season, but Lee's appeal is a complete mystery to me. You say he had pitch problems last night, but almost every time I've heard him I've thought he only hit about 2/3 of the notes on pitch.

I don't care who wins, though. Do you remember Kelly Clarkson's "Up to the Mountain" with Jeff Beck back in S7? It was >>>>>>>>> Crystal's IMHO, and Crystal's was by far the best performance of the night. Which basically sums up the fail that has been this season for me.

It did amuse me that Kara's "No Boundraaaays" finally staked the coronationary song, though. Excellent.

That's totally fair. Lee's not exciting, but I do like his voice a lot. And he may have had pitch problems for most of the season--I quit watching around the time Katie and Siobhan were sent home and just started again last week, and I hadn't really even noticed Lee before "Hallelujah" (which I thought was a fantastic rendition). But yeah, I thought this season was really quite boring--even when I was watching, I did homework through most of it and didn't feel like I was missing anything.

I don't remember Kelly Clarkson & Jeff Beck's version, no. I missed a season or two here and there and didn't pay attention a lot of the time even when I was watching... I haven't been hyper-focused on a season since Bice/Underwood. But I believe you. Haha. Maybe I'll YouTube it when I get home.

I'm going to root for Crystal tonight, just to have someone to cheer for. =)

We sort of have opposite experiences because I watched the beginning of the season and slacked off towards the end because Dancing With the Stars was much more interesting to me. I did see Hallelujah, but that song is Done for me. So typical of Simon to choose the most obvious song ever. Didn't he ~personally clear~ One for Adam last season. Dude is stuck in the 90s.

Crystal is gonna lose, according to DI! I'm more surprised at how few busy signals they picked up, tho. Clearly we were not the only ones bored by this season.

I didn't think about that until just now, whoops, sorry.

Hehehe. No worries, but thank you for the warning. I only care about spoilers for reality TV if I actually truly care who wins, and this time I don't. (I was accidentally spoiled regarding the outcome of this season of Survivor because I stupidly read the comments on Jeff Probst's EW blog. That one was sad, but I got over it and learned a good lesson regarding reading comments.)

If Crystal doesn't win, I blame the teenyboppers.

I've convinced myself I don't like dancing shows, but I think it's because I only tried "So You Think You Can Dance" and I only lasted about 30 seconds. But I assume that "Dancing with the Stars" is better than "So You Think," if not for the obvious reason implicit in the title then for the sheer fact that "Stars" gets a regular season slot while "So You Think" is relegated to the summer. Summer TV has such a stigma attached. (But man do I love "The Bachelorette" and "Big Brother"....) But maybe I'll try next season, if it looks interesting.

I prefer DWTS over SYTYCD because it's less overwrought... these are celebs, not people who want to be actual dancers. I started watching for Evan Lysacek bc I was super into the winter Olympics this year, and I ended up sticking with it. I really like the judges, which is something I can't say about any other reality show.

I'm actually not watching the AI finale. I don't care enough to win, and while I do love me some Kris Allen, 19 is sandbagging him with some awful, dirge-like Train song as his next single so I don't care about that either. Although, shoot, it ought to be over now so I should just go find out who won...

(Can't believe you've gone so long without Dial Idol!)

Re: Dial Idol, I don't vote... haven't since all my votes for Bo Bice didn't pan out. It's silly and I should vote if I'm gonna write about it, but I try not to bitch about who wins and loses because I know I don't vote and therefore have no right to complain. So I leave it at "well... I think s/he is kind of boring..." and move on. I've also resigned myself to the fact that NO ONE that I EVER want to win this show actually wins. Ever. (Lee won tonight, FYI--DI was right.) My tastes are often outside of the general population's--it's always been this way. I don't even agree with movie reviews 95% of the time.

So I guess I've just never had a need to discover DI. But now that I know it's there, maybe I'll vote if I watch next season.

And I will buy Crystal's album when she comes out with one. =)

I think I might check out DWTS next season, if there's time... which there probably won't be... but it does look interesting.

Oh and I meant to mention that I had never even heard of Dial Idol until now. When you first said "DI," I had no idea what you meant. It's a nifty idea!
