Virus removal recommendation: BleepingComputer.com
So, I managed to get my computer infected with a nasty virus this past week. Eric and I tried all of Sophos Antivirus's removal suggestions and nothing worked.
But I posted to this forum on Thursday or so, and by Friday night I had a response from a "malware expert." He walked me through a bunch of scans, checked my logs and scan reports, and took the time to answer all of my questions. Two days later and completely free of charge (I did send a donation to thank him, though), I have a virus-free machine. And I didn't have to wipe my hard drive.
Most of you are probably very good at avoiding malware, and I usually am too--it's just a link to keep on hand if you ever run into a situation you can't handle yourself/get a friend to fix. =)
