I think they've lost the whole thread of the story and are running out of ideas of what to do next, forgetting that we've loved the show just the way it was, with the team relationships and the solid crime stories. I was worried when they had Tony mooning over Jeanne because it distracted from the team and the crime story of the week. I'm definitely not interested in the 'Tiva' stuff. The characters could be good friends, maybe, but that's it -- the chemistry just isn't there. Besides, if they want to be halfways decent to their characters, after putting Ziva through hell, having her reject all she's ever been to reinvent herself, they need to give her a bit of time, not pretend none of that happened or that it was so minor that she could possibly be ready for any kind of 'romance' at this point.

And they have been losing it with Gibbs for a while, too. He was great as a tough man of mystery with three ex-wives; not sure I want to repeatedly see the vulnerabilities associated with a murdered wife and daughter or a rocky relationship with his father. Yeah, I suppose it makes him more 'human', but I don't love Gibbs because he's 'human' but because he's tough and he's solid and he's smart.

IMO, it's been the best ensemble crime show on television for a long time, but they've never known how to deal with 'the female agent', and that might end up being their downfall. It's like a woman can't be there and just do her job without falling for the handsome guy on the team. They skirt through with Abby by making her a kind of idiot savant, almost childlike, the daughter Gibbs might have had, but she's never been a sensuous female character like Ziva or Kate. It's all very irritating.
