journal; theillchosen canon→ tales of symphoniaZelos and his assigned daughter seem totally incompatible on the surface; where she's almost coldly polite, he's an obnoxious flirt. She's very mature for her age, while he seems to have regressed back into childhood. Yet like so many things in this assigned family, what you see isn't always what you get. As passive-aggressively as she'll treat Zelos, Mami's slowly come to realize that the man is hiding a few issues of his own. She can't tell what- and isn't sure she even wants to attempt to -but the hints are there, subtle though they are. There's a strange, unspoken sort of understanding beneath the teasing banter they swap- they realize that not all is right with the other. Granted, this doesn't mean Mami won't find Zelos annoying at times; she does, and often. She just also knows that his behavior is largely harmless: a game he plays for reasons she'd have to crack his mask to find out the truth of.
Zelos has left Mayfield. Although she won't admit it, not even to herself, Mami misses him more than she ever could have expected; his disappearance has only strengthened her belief that getting close to others is a futile and idiotic pursuit in a place like Mayfield, where people can be here one day and gone the next.
