More and more and more

Well, my birthday came and went without too much a of hoorah, but I think that's usually the way it goes as you get older. Got a new watch, some boxers, and Meatloaf's new album. I got Jennifer one BIG present, I hope she likes. It was a pain in the ass to try and hide.

I went out to Stormwall on Sunday and it was good to see everyone again. Congrats to TRee and Tate. Stay blessed you two. Seems like Amtgard will always be the way it is, no matter how much one individual changes. Not sure if that is good or bad. The bad thing about yesterday was on the very first fight, I got my left thumb crunched really good. I've had it in a soft brace of athletic tape. I know its healing becuase its getting itchy under my skin at the ligament level.

You know, I'm not sure why I always get upset with the term "male nurse." People always say it and they really don't mean for it to be derrogatory but that's the way it goes over with me. For me, it seems to imply that I can't be as compassionate or attentive as a female nurse. Especially with geriatric people and hispanics, they won't really tell me about their pain (they'll tell me they don't have any pain) and then call the nurse and tell the female nurse that they're in agony. It's such a pain in the ass because it makes it seem like I"m not doing my job to the nurses in assessing a patient's pain when I am. But you know, I've picked up on some things that many nurses have missed and if I have had enough coffee, I'm generally pretty quick to catch things that may be missed because a nurse has six patients with 20 meds due at 8pm.

I can't wait for the day when the 'male nurse' thing goes out the window and we're ALL just nurses.
