To my PA friends...
As you most likely know, I am in the process of buying a house! What an exciting, yet VERY stressful time for me! Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and support!
Update on house stuff:
I basically have a little over 3 weeks to get everything done, and I am asking for your help. Throughout the month, I will be doing stuff to get ready for the move. (Spackling holes, boxing up stuff, getting rid of some furniture, etc.) But with any move, it always comes down to the wire to get all the important stuff done.
Heres where I need your help. Forgive me in advance for treating this like a "Project", but the capricorn in me has to treat this like a project with a staged implementation to get stuff done in a short period of time! You get to be my "resources" :)
My hope is to ask a lot of you for help, instead of just a small few. I am sucking it all up and basically begging for your help - the way I look at it, the more people I can get to help, the less burden I am putting on each of you. Doesnt it always suck at work when you have a lot to do with less people than you really need? That puts more burden on each person, and I desperately want to avoid that! I will have pizza and refreshments available, and then later on I promise to have a housewarming party with proper food as a thank you!
Heres my schedule, and what I am asking. This is a big task to tackle in a short period of time, so if you can let me know ASAP if youc an help on any of these days, I would be most appreciative!
Saturday/Sunday, March 24th/25th - My mother, the workhorse, will be out of town on the weekend I am closing so we are doing a lot of stuff the weekend beforehand. She is coming over to box up and scrub down the hardests rooms of all, the kitchen and bathroom. Can I get one or two of you to help one or both of these days? (I will be boxing up and prepping my bedroom [clothes, books, etc.] and office [computer, file cabinet, etc]). The rest of the week I will be finishing up so that everything is ready to go on Saturday.
Friday, March 30th - This is closing date. That afternoon I may have to be at the apartment to get a fridge delivered or I may move some boxes myself.
Saturday, March 31st, Midmorning - This is the big day when I need as much help as possible. I need cleaners and movers. I have 10-15 pieces of furniture (from endtables to chairs) and of course boxes, so the more people helping with moving, the less furniture each person would have to carry. The cleaning should be minimal and light for those with any physical issues since the kitchen and bathroom will be done. It will be windexing the windows, using a damp mop on the ledges/baseboards, and vaccuuming, etc.. The backrooms will get emptied first so that the cleaning crew and the movers are out of each others ways. My hope is to get all of this done in less than 4 hours so as not to ruin your day.

- I put my "earnest money" down on the house (that was a hard check to write!), and the closing date is set for March 30th.
- I pick out the carpet and flooring today.
- I put my notice in to the apartment complex, and they worked with me. However, I had to pay the early termination fee today, so I had to come up with an extra 820 bucks unplanned out of pocket. Money is therefore VERY tight right now, so I apologize in advance that I can't really do anything social with you until after the 15th.
- The apt must be vacated and cleaned by the end of the day on March 31st.
