The leather strands are very strong yet can be cut. It seems that Teri did just that.

I wonder sometimes though if Teri feels more than he allows himself to admit. Case in point he saved the Kinney files (precaution he says, but perhaps because he does care).

I wonder how it must feel to literally cut yourself in half?? Because that is what Teri just did. He will feel the loss but be able to compartmentalize it but Raine??? I don't think he will recover and be the same man he was. And what better death to deal someone than to take a career that they exist for away from them. Just a possiblity of a living death that Teri (and others) could deal Raine.
Very somber chapter

Teri compartmentalizes a great deal.

I shook my head and thought that I should be sad, that this should mean more than a task to be completed. It didn’t. Perhaps I’d cauterized the wound in anticipation and the scarring now distanced me.

Oh how sad. I feel sorry for Teri. It's like something broke in him.

I think he broke long before this, when Terri created/destroyed Kim/Dom. Dealing with Raine was almost like tying up lose ends. But agree very sad.

True but in many ways Teri reminds me of Anakin turning to the dark side of the force; bit by bit he cuts himself off to the things that make him human. His breaking it off with Ren, even though much deserved removes yet another avenue where he could let his hair down and relax. I'm actually happy he at least still has Bob.

Tying up loose ends. Implies a lot. Not saying if it's right or wrong. Cause I'm so forthcoming like that.

Randall said he didn't spot anything and I really did comb it through so go ahead. Not like all the others don't have typos etc, lol. Thanks again for all your hard work.

How miserable for Teri, to have to cut off the one person who has been with him from the beginning, literally. Necessary, however, after what he did. The "loss of the ability to feel loss" should sorrow Teri more, however. I wonder if he is feeling this more than he lets himself acknowledge, or if all this will hit him emotionally at some point. He's a very strong, very controlled individual, but everyone is breakable.

Maybe that is why Terri has stopped feeling, he is already broken and beyond the point of no return. Ironically the one person that might understand that is Bob.

Sometimes people who lock themselves down are the most afraid of the depth and power of their feelings.

That's what worries me. The dam will break eventually.
