THE GREAT LAKES

Long, long, ago there was a coal mine in Utah. Many people worked at this coal mine. One night a meteor struck the coal mine, and blew it to bits. This was called the great crater named by the Apachie Indians who had discovered it. The Apchie Indian’s made up a legond about this crater, and here it is.

Many years ago there was a mountain. Many tribes lived on this mountain. One day it was very hot. It was strange to live on a mountain and for it to be hot. It was so hot the ice cap on top of the mountain melted, and the remaining water turned into lava. The lava melted the mountain, and seeped into the ground forming a deep hole. Many weeks later it began to rain alot. The rain flooded all of Utah filling in the deep hole forming the Great Salt Lake.
