I know it must sound pathetic, but I haven't worked full-time in a long time. And now that I am, my body just can't keep up. Last summer I used to be able to handle 7 hours of class, but now I'm always feeling vaguely tired and woozy and not that quick on my feet.

However, quickness is actually not in style this month. At least in my class. I received the lowest-scoring SAT kids for this session and it has meant that I've really had to switch my teaching style. It's actually in some ways a nice challenge, because I have to be continually conscious of their level and modify the lessons accordingly, making sure that they pick up the most essential bits. But it can also be frustrating; today I read their essays and it was like some of them had just started learning English a few months ago. The essay was supposed to be about grief that's caused by our own actions, and I had students writing about Helen Keller, how Taiwanese elections work, and a girl getting stabbed for no apparent reason. Great work, guys!
