Well school started last week. It's been going alright so far. I've got Mass Com here in 40 minutes. The weirdest class I'm taking is genetics. I've got this teacher, Dr. Tang, with a really thick chinese accent. The first day of class apparently he said. "I'm sorry I don't have big american smile, but my father just died." So thats kind of a crazy bombshell to start off with. The lab is pretty sweet. We are growing yeast cultures and trying to isolate this one gene that will not grow in a caffeine agar solution. This gene is also linked to the age that the yeast can reach. If we can breed out the recessive gene that causes this, we will be able to extend the life of the yeast from apx 10 generations to 40 generations. This is pretty cool because this one gene is what causes aging in the cell. This research could then be later extrapolated into human cells. There is obviously a gene that causes you to start aging, and who knows, maybe we could discover how to manipulate this gene and extend human life 30 or 40 years, in good health as well. Interesting stuff, at least to me. My mass com class is alright, we talk about how bad Little Rock radio sucks, and how bad the mainstream pop industry sucks. Anyhow, I must get ready to clock out and head to school. I'll try to post more often, I didn't even get on LJ for like 2 weeks.
