I almost finished my coat mock up! Out of white muslin. I need some help drafting the neck opening.

I found the gussets to be easy with this pattern where you attach the side and underarm gussets to the sleeves. Thankfully I ended up with an even number, 24" wide, so it was easy to cut the diagonal for the gussets. I folded the fabric in half width wise to end up with a 12" wide piece. Then I just marked out the 3",6",9" on the width. Then I drew from the 3" to the 9" on the on other side!

I cut that line and then cut the fold and I've got 4 matching gussets. I attached these to the under arm gussets.

Finally I attached a gusset set to either side of the sleeves.

I attached the sleeves and gussets to the body and finally sewed up the side seams.
I'm thinking about using it as a lining for a coat made out of the textured fabric below. I have a few concerns as this fabric shrinks a lot as you can see in the pictures below. I have 14 yards though so this might not be a large concern. It is one of the few fabrics I've ever had that is 3 dimensional.
1 yard unwashed

same yard washed and dried with strip of unwashed fabric on top to display shrinkage.
