A strange owl...

The oddest thing just happened. I was outside trying out my new Nimbus below the treeline so no Muggle could see me, when a strange owl that I have never seen before arrived. It was almost pitch black, with odd, almost red eyes, but it seemed all right when it first landed on my arm, although it dug it's feet into me pretty deeply. Tied to it's leg was a letter addressed to me by first name only, written in what I think (and hope) was red ink. There is no way to check if it was now.

Right after I removed the letter from it, the owl bit me once on the head quite hard and flew off towards the south at a pace which was odd for even fast delivery birds. No name except mine was on it, and the text had been written neatly and quite elaborately, the flowing curves of the letters almost jutting from the parchment. Right after reading it, it crumbled into dust in my hands, burning them, and sending me and my broom into a ten foot dive I couldn't control.

All I have left of my broom is a bunch of splinters and a full tail, the only part of my broom that is fully together. I also bruised myself up quite well, and my hands still ache slightly even after my mom healed them the best she could. And it gets worse.

I cannot seem to remember at all what the letter said. I know the details of everything else, but what was written slips away from my mind whenever I think about it. My mom checked me to see if somehow my memory was altered, but could not find any trace of the Obliviate charm at all. She has sent for a specialist, but even I doubt that he will find anything.

Curiouser and curiouser...
