pardon me for butting in here ...it's the summer holiday for me and I'm spending too much time online reading lj's ... however, this reminded me of a short conversation my partner (female) and I had with John Barrowman at a Hub con last october ... whilst waiting for his sister to return so she could also sign our copy of his book, he teased us, saying his driver, Sean, found it a turn on knowing we were together and he called it "straight man syndrome" and looking at the vast number of women reading and writing Jack/ianto porn, it occurs to me there are a lot suffering "straight women syndrome", because they enjoy the man on man action, yet there were women at that con who were not at all comfortable with the two of us sitting together holding hands (after theyhad all screamed like fools as Gareth and John snogged on stage!) ... very weird ... and I'm with you in that I think we're essentially bisexual - as a biologist it makes sense, especially as sex isn't just for procreation but for pleasure and comfort and enforcing bonds ... I've always been drawn to people I fancy regardless of their gender and it is essentially religion that wants us to stay in het couples that don't use contraceptives for the sole purpose of increasing the number of their followers ...spoken as a collapsed catholic :-) there is a lot of institionalised homophobia that causes people to fear it irrationally ...
