...aka 'in the market'...
...aka 'immediate availability'...
As much as I love flying, and have arguably have the best possible office view while in the air, I find myself voluntarily unemployed. Well, technically on a leave of absence. I've sometimes wondered for the past decade what it's like to be home every night, have a reasonably stable 9-5(ish) schedule (what? I know what I'm doing earlier than the 21st of the month!?), and might even have the ability to take classes or participate in normal after-work activites.
Work offered me a deal I couldn't turn down -- five years of leave, retain all seniority and may end leave with 30 days notice to return. So here I sit wondering if I ought to pursue school (masters degree?), contract work or (gasp!) even a regular job. Though I've a bit of time before I need to get the income stream going again, I'm sniffing about for one of those job thingies I keep hearing about =^.^=
Despite still figuring out just what it is I'd like to do when I grow up, my employable background includes broadcast television engineering, production and editing, computer networking, general sys admin I/T jockeying, microcode, PCB layout, and programming. Oh, and aviation! I'm curious if any fair readers might suggest leads in these or related fields. I missed a potential job at Argonne [I was still working], which is a huge bummer, so I'm following up quickly on interesting possibilities. Thanks, all!
