Servant of the Underworld
I'm not that big on the whole promotion thing and try to keep it more or less to a minimum, but I had to take a second out to promote my good friend Aliette's new book Servant of the Underworld. Because let's face it a first book is a HUGE thing for a writer and also because what I'm really really hoping to see is this:
Of course the number one spot would be more preferable, but the 3rd spot looked more charming in photoshop... Anyway, I first stumbled onto Aliette's fiction in Writers of the Future Vol. XXIII which included her story "Obsidian Shards". What I found was an awesome blend of dark fantasy and mystery set in an Aztec world. The first thing I thought when I read that story was, man this would make an awesome novel setting. And Tada here it is!
I think the WOTF story offers a pretty good taste for her Aztec fiction so I definitely suggest checking that out if you're interested it's available here: http://aliettedebodard.com/bibliography/online-fiction/obsidian-shards/
