Many people weigh the guilt they will feel against the pleasure of the forbidden action they want to take.

If there was one thing he had learned by touring, it was that a fine line existed between pranks and sadomasochism. Slam a brother, a brother’s gonna slam you back, that was the law of the land. No exceptions. To that end, every practical joke, wisecrack, and overall action had to be weighed very carefully.

That was the problem with Toca, Sizz, and Nez when a prank war got rolling: they didn’t weigh the consequences of their actions against the momentary pleasure of getting one up on each other.

People could say what they wanted about his quiet nature, his voracious love of privacy, and his low-key personality…but it was that same introversion that made him the most vicious, diabolical, and unpredictable prankster in the band. They all lived in fear of him and he knew it.

What’s more, he loved it.

Sure, Toca taking his guitar strings wasn’t a big deal, but it had been a good three months since Ryder had actually been responsible for a single goddamn thing on the road. He may have advised Sizz on tying his brother’s shorts together, but he hadn’t actually orchestrated the operation.

He gave the matter serious thought, until he walked by the t-shirt store at the New York New York hotel.

“I’m gonna head over and grab a soda…where the hell’s my shirt, man?”

Ryder simply whistled and waited for Sal to turn before tossing him a black t-shirt. “Meeting your girl?”

“Yeah…crap, we’re on in ten. I’ll be right back.”

Ryder just nodded…and waited until his band brother was walking away before he allowed himself to smile.

IF YOU CAN READ THIS, THE BITCH FELL OFF…right on his back, in glaring black and white.

Channing was going to kick his ass…and whatever Toca had to get him back? Ryder knew it would be totally worth it.
