You aren't hallucination, Mr. Lawyer. This world is called Johto and you're in a town called New Bark Town. Everyone end up in that town before embarking on their journey. These creatures are called pokemon. The puppy following you around is one of them. He's going to be your partner from here on out. It wouldn't be a good idea to leave the town without him because he is going to protect you from all the wild pokemon at the routes.

Everything is mostly explained in the handbook inside your swag bag. I recommend you read it before leaving the town on your own.

Fog was covering all of Johto when the event happened. The ghost and psyhic pokemon were hiding in the fog and using their powers to give us all nightmares and hallucinations. Many people fell into the hallucinations while others were strong enough to snap out of it, but they would have fallen under it's control from time to time. It was like this for the entire weekened until the fog disappeared and we were all able to defeat the pokemon controlling us. Some people are still scared over the event...

[Or at least, one of her friends ran away and hid in a cave for weeks.]

I don't blame them. These Pokémon are dangerous in more ways than one.

They are...sometimes. Usually pokemon do not attack humans, but there are exceptions. Just like how people are, right?
