[open] help i need somebody help

In the ballroom, near the grand piano, there is an auburn-haired young man lying facedown on the floor in a smear of blood. The back of his shirt is crimson and there are three clear puncture wounds, one near each shoulder blade and another lower, dangerously near to his kidneys. Light is in a bit of trouble ( Read more... )

Assuming this is sometime later, Scheherazade will (again) be looking for her sensei, and worrying (again) about him, because he (again) missed language class.

And this is really not like Light.

This is why there's a timid young Persian lady doing something very inappropriate, and poking her head in to his bedroom, which she's never visited before.

"-- Raito?"

He would not have missed if he could not absolutely help it. And the door is unlocked; Light is in bed on his stomach with the sheets pulled up and even paler than normal. He doesn't look very well; looks miserable, really. And forces his eyes open when he hears her voice, probably about half sedated.

"I...missed again, didn't I," he murmurs, a touch blearily. And sounds...rueful, mostly.

He really didn't plan this. He swears.

"Yes," she murmurs, and just opens the door a little wider. "May I come in?"

She's shy about this - it's really not appropriate, and she's worried, and well, there were words last time they spoke, and --

And well. Let's not go there, aside from the fact that she's extremely concerned for her friend. Inordinately so.

He lets his eyes close and doesn't lift an arm to wave her in, just says (slightly muffledly) "Mmmhm, that's fine." Don't mind him, really, feeling a bit dopey at the moment. Also frustrated and in pain, but those two have faded to the back of his head with a little help.

Schery, he is inordinately concerned about you, too. Just so you know.

She closes the door carefully, then, quietly, and steps in closer. Her first instinct is to look at him, to examine him, to see if the traces of care are in the room.

"--- Are you ill?"

Despite her best efforts, she probably still sounds worried.

Strictly about her Japanese lessons, she insists.

He closes his eyes, briefly. "Not exactly," he answers, finally, and gives her a slightly ghostly smile. "Found a bit of trouble. I'm afraid I'll probably be...laid up for a little while. My apologies."

Of course. Just the lessons. We understand completely, Schery.

Her mouth sets in a thin little line. "-- what happened?" Her tone is gentler, even if she's still striving for aloof and business like.

Not working very well, but the effort certainly deserves commendation.

He notices it, and closes his eyes, avoiding her gaze. Not exactly intentionally, but still avoiding. But he doesn't lie. "I was stabbed," he says, baldly. "In the back. By a dangerous woman that I hope you never meet."

And that I hope I can take down in one with her master. Gaaaah. Mission delayed for a while, though, evidently...

Despite herself, Scheherazade can't help the humor - "-- please tell me this was not an irate student of yours? I'd hate to have to clean up the reputation of all scholars at the Mansion."

Light banter, something hopefully witty, nothing engaging nothing -- hm. Nothing committing.

His mouth quirks a little, barely, but not much. He takes Aramat too seriously for that. "No...far from it. An enemy of mine." A woman I'm hunting. A woman I will kill, as soon as I can, as soon as she leads me to my chief target. "Her name is Aramat. You shouldn't...speak to her, get close to her. She is a complete - psychopath."

Oh ow my back, and he makes a faint noise, feeling the stitches tug.

Scheherazade pulls herself a chair and sits so that he won't need to strain so much. "Please - don't strain yourself like that," she tells him (still aiming for a cold tone that is belied by her actions).

She's flailing a little, though she's trying very hard not to.

He relaxes again, and closes his eyes. "I can't hold it for very long anyway. Which probably partly means it's almost time for another dose of painkillers." He doesn't sound particularly pleased about this. And feels horribly...vulnerable. He doesn't like it. Not even with her.

Scheherazade sighs. "-- is there anything I can do?" She's not familiar with pills, is hesitant to ask to see his wounds (there are healers for those, and it would be even more inappropriate if she saw his skin), and can't seem to identify any known painkillers on the night stand.

Because, of course, she's unfamiliar with the concept of popping pills.

He sighs a little, and shakes his head. "Not directly, though I wouldn't mind company if you don't mind taking the time out of your assuredly busy schedule." His smile is very slightly wry as he manages to turn his head to look blearily at her. "Do you mind?"

Plus, Light would rather treat himself, generally speaking. If at all possible. The fact that he actually passed out is...bothersome.

"Well, I should be in class just about now," she replies, and her own smile a bit wry. "But it seems my professor is unavailable, so I guess I can spend a moment with a friend..."

Light, you silly muffin. Friends are there to help too, you know.

Except if you pry in their love lives, that is.

He laughs, a little, and carefully, so he doesn't jar his back. He never realized just how much you use the muscles in your back until it hurt every time he moved them. "Thank you. I don't like spending too much time with my thoughts, and now that I'm apparently out of danger..."

He half closes his eyes. "What have you been doing, then? Feel free to practice, if you want."
