[Apparently there was something... special about today. For the mage, who had been secluding himself from the general public -- for a lot of reasons -- it was strange to suddenly come back to it all, and hear the phones buzzing with talk of a holiday.]
[He stays in the study, though, where he's likely been holed up all this time, listening. He's never heard of a "father's day" before.]
[However, at some point, he will poke his head out, and ease himself into the kitchen. Even a mage has to eat.]

Would someone mind explaining this... holiday? Have I missed something?

I realize it's been quite some time since... I've spoken with any of you. But I... felt it necessary, now. You deserve to hear this, at any rate.
I apologize. For dragging you all into that mess several weeks ago. You didn't need to get involved. And yet... I intend to make it right.
[A pause -- he debates saying this next part at all.]
